He/she is just begging for attention anyways, let's not bother responding.

Anyways @Lucilyn, the main issue is that "decision" must usually be taken by one person, because even if it's just 2-3 people in a group they are not completely independent from eachother (ergo they can gang up or "choose" solely based on their views).

Yes, we can play pretend that you can have a group of say, dozens, hundreds of people in a single room (Government) and that their decision are always fine and sound, even though they might win by like, 0.5% (you see where I'm going with this right?)

Anyways, I'm done talking about politics and such, to everyone involved to the subject please don't respond and move on, this is the gat discussion thread. Thank you.

Dude, seriously, do you not know that they/them exists??? Get out of 2012 and into 2021 where they/them are the appropriate pronouns towards someone you don't know the gender of, thanks. Like, I am glad people like you weren't the last members of the GAT before it was dissolved.

Also, weren't you the one who brought politics into this? Ah, yes, in the previous page, you went:

Quote

Doesn't work that way. Since ancient history there always has been one at the summit. All the major corporation of yesterday and today have one person at the helm, with perhaps a few advisors on the side.

Democracy is a mistake and the saddest part is that it gives the people a false sense of "worth" and it makes them think that their opinion matters.

Nobody brought politics into this until you did.

It's a shame it appears to be a question of "herding cats" because everyone is so different and have such different experiences/views of the subject. It's a good idea in theory, but apparently not in execution, unfortunately. 🤷‍♀️ Thanks for clarifying.

More updates:

While checking the guide list, I realized a potential concern regarding guides and hosing on a separate website. I created this thread asking about a potential solution.

Meanwhile, I have about 40 more guides to check. We will be busy this week, I don't know if I'll be able to finish or not. Even if I do, I likely won't be able to add the new policies in the next week or so.

I think now would be a good time to discuss the general policies. I mentioned policies earlier in this thread, and right now I don't have time right now to flesh out my thoughts or elaborate on them. I may be able to reply to things tonight or maybe on Wednesday.

I'm Ranger, GrayTheCat's cobud (tulpa), and I love hippos! I also like cake and chatting about stuff. I go by Rosalin or Ronan sometimes. You can call me Roz but please don't call me Ron.

Good News! I filtered out which guides were still there and which were not. Given how long it took and the natural next step, I'm going to post the link to the spreadsheet here so people can see what I'm doing: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IrR8mh6SnnI6313exNY8rpjB6TLM4WwBhI3JETXd2Yk/edit?usp=sharing

Right now my goal is to create the new guide list. I plan on moving everything from Submissions to new board "Community Guides" and everything else to to either Tips and Tricks or Articles. I plan on breaking the list down by category and then by if it's a Guides submission or a Tips and Tricks submission. I'm planning on keeping Articles its own separate category for now, unless people believe it should be broken up like the Tips and Tricks guides.

Since I plan on having it set up so people can post directly to the guide boards, that also means mostly everything that was kept in Submissions will be moved there. I personally decided Sock's satire guide should stay in drafts and I will also keep Black Wizard's guide in drafts because the former is a joke guide and the latter I personally believe to be both bad advice and not okay for other reasons (You can see my blunt thoughts in more detail here).

I think now is a good time to discuss if any guides should be moved to drafts or stay in guides. If anyone believes any guides have harmful advice, please explain why and I can have it moved to Drafts instead. If anyone would like to defend a guide, they are more than welcome to argue in favor of it and I can reverse any decisions including my own. I don't have an elaborate system thought out for this, my expectation is an argument arguing why a guide is harmful would provide a specific reason like "this guide is inherently racist" or "this guide encourages X unhealthy behavior and/or mindset".

After I filter everything, the next step will be to write out the new board names, descriptions, and submission policies. I'll post those here before asking for an admin to help me with moving everything.

Edit: Well, that was easy! New guide list done... ah I have to format it correctly first. Stay tuned.

Edit 2: New guide list completed! Here's what I plan to publish, please let me know if you see any problems with it!

Unfinished drafts, entries that fail to meet the community's standards, and other entries that don't fit elsewhere will reside in the Drafts board. Drafts can be improved upon and later moved to one of the guide boards.

May I suggest moving Tulpa's D.I.Y Guide to drafts? It has legitimately harmful advice in it, an example of this can be found on page 24:

Quote

Dietary Considerations:

It is reputed that a single dose of a traditional psychedelic during a forcing session can dramatically improve future results, if you are not susceptible to hallucinations. However, additional doses do not seem to help, and may hinder. All other drugs will either have no effect on forcing, or in rare cases will impede progress. Do not take them unless needed for mood stabilisation.

"All other drugs," can also mean medication, which if I recall in the thread, Sands even pointed this out as absolutely harmful advice. Yeah, here's exactly what they said about it:

Quote

Or gee I dunno, any other reason you have been prescribed medicine for – which includes way more than "mood stabilization". Again. You should not tell people to drop their medication without them talking to their doctor about it first! Are you understanding how harmful your advice is? How it's potentially fatal? You might be perfectly healthy yourself and that's great, but don't think everyone has a choice.

Which, as you can see, Tulpa never took this feedback and fixed that and as far as I know, they have no intentions of ever updating this guide again. Also, not to mention how legitimately creepy Tulpa is in their guide? Exercises like the kissing exercise, constantly making sexual metaphors (without ANY NSFW warning), and flat-out telling the tulpa to love their host. Here's an example on page 164:

Quote

Touch your tulpa. Kiss your tulpa. Feel your tulpa.

It's got a lot of toxic host-centrism on top of that. The only reason Tulpa's guide was even approved was because the GAT couldn't go through all of it due to its immense length, so they just automatically approved it, and you can see the issues with that. Like, here's Waffles saying just that in the thread for that guide:

Quote

I've moved this to Guides. Reason: this is such a big piece that 'approval' in the classical sense will never happen, realistically. I think this is mostly good, and further nitpicks, if anyone has the appetite for them, can happen post facto.

I think I've made my point on Tulpa's guide being harmful, not even mentioning the many other issues with it.

Responding to Schizophrenia Diagnosis:

A schizophrenia diagnosis for someone with a tulpa is a career destroyingly bad example of misdiagnosis. Though, it is possible to have schizophrenia and also tulpas.

This should have been caught in differential diagnosis. Unless there is reason to suspect otherwise, any hearing voices phenomenon should indicate a dissociative condition, not a psychotic condition. Though, it is possible for both to coexist.

You can make the following statements to a psychologist to explain why the diagnosis is false.

Quote

Choosing Your Diagnosis:

There are several things to consider here. In many cases, you will be required to obtain a diagnosis in order to get covered for the costs of counseling services, and in some cases, to receive accommodations.

On the other hand, in some places you are not protected from discrimination due to mental illness. This is particularly likely in jobs that require a background check. If you want to work in security, you can be fired simply for getting diagnosed for something. Those with mental illness are also frequent scapegoats, and likely to be pinned with crimes in blatant violation of sound statistical science, and are more likely victims of abuse and exploitation.

If you get pinned with a diagnosis for what are considered serious problems, like schizophrenia or DID, you can suffer special treatment under the law. As in losing your rights and freedoms. Safer are the two most common conditions diagnosed, depression and anxiety.

Given that Tulpa isn't qualified to give medical or career advice for your diagnosis and what you mentioned earlier, I'm uncomfortable enough with this "medical advice" that it should be moved to drafts.

I took a closer look at the "Kiss me you Fool" section and other instances where he mentions hugging and kissing. I don't think there's enough there for me to say Tulpa is suggesting to go against a tulpa's consent, and in that exercise he points out your tulpa should provide their consent.

Quote

Probably should wait for your tulpa to ask for this one for obvious reasons. I suppose you should start with nibbling hair if those steps are too intimidating.

I don't think this point against Tulpa's guide is enough to stand by itself as a reason to move it to drafts. Having a platonic relationship with your tulpa is something the system decides, and from an advice standpoint I don't think it makes sense to rule this as harmful. Not all platonic relationshps are bad, and the way it's portrayed in Tulpa's guide from what I searched, I didn't find anything that came across as alarming to me. If Tulpa didn't leave that comment in the "Kiss me you fool" section, I would have a different opinion. Additionally, while touching "every inch of your tulpa's body" is a little weird, I don't see any other context around it that suggests or encourages sexual harassment. While I would personally be more careful with some of the wording, I think it's okay to give Tulpa the benefit of the doubt here for now.

While somewhat unrelated, I remember another article the GAT heavily disapproved of recently. Shinyuu's article "Are tulpas a mental disorder?" has a similar problem where Shinyuu tries to argue why tulpamancers don't have DID. While I think it's fine to argue this stance in general, the fact she didn't state she's not a medical professional, she goes in a lot of detail mentioning the DSM 4 and 5, and it comes across as her exercising her "medical expertise". I think this article should also be moved to drafts.

I want to point out that when something is moved to drafts, it can always be revised and moved back to guides. My hope is the drafts board offers an opportunity to improve your work, and part of this includes not having upvotes in that board.

What about the "should you have sex with your tulpa" answer? Tulpa doesn't mention anything about consent, just that it's "taboo" or would potentially "sour" the relationship? Or that method where he tells the tulpa to bite their host and draw blood? It's right here on page 151:

Quote

If that still does not work, here is a weird trick that occasionally works to trigger improved sensation, but takes a day. Bite your host, draw blood. Then lick the site. Your host is likely to feel the cold and wet from the lick. The next day, your host may have increased sensitivity in that area.

It just... has sexual metaphors literally throughout the entire guide, which might I add that a lot of new Tulpamancers are minors and could come across this kind of stuff. I mean, either way, it's getting moved to drafts with Tulpa's "medical advice," which I completely skimmed over in favor of him flat-out telling people to stop taking their meds.

That reminds me, would a guide being created by a well-known bigot (like, actually massive scumbag that participates in reprehensible behavior) fall under the "this guide is inherently racist" reason? Because there is an approved guide that was made by legitimately one of the worse members of the community, but I don't know if the guide itself has any of their bigotry in it.
