Amadeus December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 Hello, everyone. As you may have heard sometime in the recent past, I've started writing a book on the tulpa phenomenon, and my experiences with it. So far I've really just talked about how I found out about it, and my initial thoughts surrounding it, and a bit about Dane. I'm fishing for material, and was wondering if anyone had ideas of what to put into the book. I'm open to suggestion at this point; just keep in mind that it's nonfiction, not a novel. Suggestions? Ideas? Discuss! We don't get much in life. But we do have this.
Guest ThunderClap December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 Perhaps in the intro of the book, make mention of how tulpae were used in Tibet, that way you can provide a background of the subject in that sense. Maybe even compare how they were used then to how they are used now.
glitchthe3rd December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 I still say it's too early to be making a serious book on tulpae, since it'll be outdated as soon as it gets published. Maybe if you distributed it as a free ebook you'd get people to read it, but that's about it for now. Maybe if you distributed it as a free ebook you'd get people to read it, but that's about it for now. I don't know about that. The same could be said about just about any general psychology textbook - new editions are printed every three months or so. Either way, I'm aiming to make something that at least begins to document what we're doing here. You have to admit, the topic is rather interesting - it could make for a compelling read regardless of how dated the information is. We don't get much in life. But we do have this. VforVendetta December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 I support you all the way, Amadeus, with one suggestion: Make it a biographical-type book, so that it does not get "outdated." (Maybe you could even get Dane to write her own biography, hell I don't know.) Ermahgerd Ver fer Vernderterr
Amadeus December 4, 2012 Author Share December 4, 2012 (Maybe you could even get Dane to write her own biography, hell I don't know.) Just to clarify things, Dane is FAQ_man - I was corresponding with him via email when I got into tulpae. I've considered trying to contact him about the book, but considering how he left and his (admittedly very interesting) eccentricities, I highly doubt he'd have anything to do with it. waffles December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 Perhaps you could document the beginning of the community, and the evolution of methods and perception of tulpas within it. Are you going to use 'tulpae' as the plural?
Amadeus December 4, 2012 Author Share December 4, 2012 That is the plural I typically use, but I intend to mention others (except tupper, because it's ridiculous.) We don't get much in life. But we do have this.
waffles December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 While I understand that this probably isn't the thread for this, I really don't understand why you would use the 'ae' ending. It just looks so bad.
