Purlox February 4, 2013 Share February 4, 2013 Whenever you decide to create a thread, you will get many barely relevant thread suggestions. I think those are meant to prevent making a thread about the same thing, but I can still notice people posting threads about something that there is topic about already, so I'm not sure if it even helps in any way. I think that people who don't bother to search for a thread with similar topic, will most likely ignore these suggestions as well, so why don't we remove it? GuessWho February 4, 2013 Share February 4, 2013 I search before posting ...using the actual search feature. Those suggestions are useless. Maybe also remove the "Possibly Related Threads..." underneath the quick reply box. I get a feeling that it may be the cause of some of the necro-posting we have around here. waffles February 4, 2013 Share February 4, 2013 If and only if: There is a rule against duplicate topics without due cause. If a question has been asked before, thread gets deleted and OP gets the previous thread link in their inbox. Sound good or what?
Barktooth February 4, 2013 Share February 4, 2013 I dunno, I almost created a thread that was already done before, but looked at the thread suggestions and saw it there. I always forget to search before I post..
Chupi February 6, 2013 Share February 6, 2013 It's gotten to the point where I just read the box's title as "Probably Unrelated Threads..." Let's toss it out. Kiahdaj February 9, 2013 Share February 9, 2013 Well I don't really see it hurting anything. While they may not be relevant, I've still seen some interesting threads pop up in the suggestions, which served as an entertaining read. Unless there is some way where it is actually causing harm, I don't see any real reason to remove it. "If this can be avoided, it should. If it can't, then it would be better if it could be. If it happened and you're thinking back to it, try and think back further. Try not to avoid it with your mind. If any of this is possible, it may be helpful. If not, it won't be." Chupi February 15, 2013 Share February 15, 2013 At the very least, limit the number of them it returns when creating a new thread, and skip ones that are in the trash. I just typed a topic in and it popped up 50 unrelated threads, including ones in the trash. This shoved the post box down a full screen on my large monitor. Also, the delay in showing them nearly resulted in me clicking one of them because they popped in just as I was about to click the post text field. I don't know if trash threads are already hidden for normal users or if they show but clicking them gives an error. But they should be hidden from related threads for mods too.
