Guest Anonymous June 7, 2012 Share June 7, 2012 The meat is ok, but the stuff that we get once or twice a week in general discussion is annoying. The first one I saw was for PSP I think, the next was for clothing, and one that might still be in general discussion is talking about a free CCam server. Aside from the report function, what other measures do we have? Hopefully the new mods will help, but is there some auto mod we can set up that will delete posts with over x number of links unless the thread is in off-topic or the urls are from something like youtube? That would allow music threads and such.
Pleeb June 7, 2012 Share June 7, 2012 As of right now, the most we can do is have moderators delete it as it comes and ban the member that spammed it. For the moment, usually Irish wipes the spam when I'm asleep, and I wipe the spam when he is; now that we're going to have three moderators, the spam should be taken care of as quickly as the report button is used (or when they see it). We're also currently using CloudFlare to try and catch some things, though some Anons are just saying the stuff cloudflare is blocking are just preventing proxies, and not actual spam. I'm going to try and make it so verification emails are needed to register (if that's not case right now); it may tone things down a little bit, and I'll check on some anti-spam plugins. However, the best that you guys can do right now, is to continue reporting the spam when it comes. Spoiler An image in a signature behind a hidden tag! Guest Anonymous June 7, 2012 Share June 7, 2012 Is the bb mod site still down? And what about guest and anon posting? Are they not allowed to post links?
Pleeb June 7, 2012 Share June 7, 2012 Guests are allowed to post links. Ironically I've only seen one guest actually make a spam post, while every other form of spam has come from a registered spambot. EDIT: And I think the plugin site is up again. Guest Anonymous June 7, 2012 Share June 7, 2012 Failbots don't even take the easy road. Perhaps you could use a(n additonal, as there is system already in place) capatcha system for anons who post links need to do a second capatcha. And don't forget 'bout resizers. ThatOneGuy June 7, 2012 Share June 7, 2012 For now, I'll tell people with massive images to do a manual resize and generally kill spam threads as I see them. I'll do what I can. Orange juice helps with concentration headaches.
Charlotte June 7, 2012 Share June 7, 2012 All the spam so far has been in russian. Why not just autodelet russian posts? I mean except for that one glasses guy. If things get too bad you could always have an introduction board that new memebers can only post in until they're cleared, which is what was on digibutter.nerr's old forums. But that's a last measure option. This hot empty painting should be locked and towed.
ThatOneGuy June 7, 2012 Share June 7, 2012 Yeah, it's not quite that bad. Orange juice helps with concentration headaches.
