Someone linked me this gem and I feel the need to share it with you, just so you can think twice. Source here, but I'll post the quote here as well so no links have to be opened, if you don't want to.

I have been a practicing Tulpamancer for some time. And by that...I considered myself one, but I don't even know anymore.

I followed instructions. I believed! I really did. I put my heart and sould into the creation of my Tulpa. I meditated. I maintained my health. I focused and did mental and spiritual exercises.

I got involved in several online Tulpa communities who were encouraging to me. And a long time passed. Then, as I saw that my friends around me were supportive of my work and my spiritual decision to create,...it happened.

I lied.

I realized that my Tulpamancy was not working. I didn't know why. I continues on, believing that it was possible...but then it occurred to me...what if it's not possible for me? And since Tulpas are completely personal...well, then if I pretended to have one then no one would know.

My fear of rejection at failure led me to this lie. I was just so swept up in the group...and how all of you said it was possible. I didn't want to be left behind and alone. I told my friends I had succeeded, and carried on with my meditation and exercises...hoping some day it would be true and I wouldn't have to lie anymore.

But that day did not come.

One day, I was discussing with a friend over IRD about my tulpa, and I felt ashamed. I broke down and confessed all of the above, and waited for the shoe to drop. I'd be rejected. Instead...

He said the same thing. He said he loved the Tulpamancy community, but he didn't really have a tulpa either. And he was relieved that he wasn't the only one. We agreed to keep it a secret. Then, a few weeks later, I met someone who confessed the same thing to me, and the three of us talked. None of us three really had Tulpas. We just said we did because we liked the people in the community, and we liked the idea of tulpas. We wondered if there were others like us out there. Or worse...did anyone really have a tulpa at all? Yes, that horrifying thought crossed my mind, but I dare not dwell on it too long.

So now here I am, confessing to you. So far in total I've met five Tulpamancers who also do not actually have tulpas. And I know that we love all of you and wish you well. and I hope to whatever powers in this world might exist, that most, if not all of you, are not as lost and alone as the six of us, who are unable to create. Perhaps you'll forgive us for lying to you. We just couldn't bear to tell you that for us, it's not possible.

I am sure this will be dismissed as a trolling attempt, and for that I cannot do anything but apologize if that is what it seems. I just really didn't know what to do, and now for me my conscience is clear.

Be well, all.

This is one of those creepy things that will stick in my head for the rest of my natural born life.

I applaud you sir.

My feeling is, who cares? You know which stories you think are true, I know which stories I think are true, and the people writing them lnow whether their own stories are true.

If I post in my PR, "I had a dream about a sandwich", you all don't jump on me saying that it's impossible to dream about sandwiches, or that it takes years of training to dream about sandwiches, or that the newbies/academic community are monitoring every word I post, and they don't take sandwiches seriously. You probably just think to yourself "who the heck cares?" Because it's my subjective experience.

I think this post puts it very well.

Unless this is a confession. Are you trying to tell us something about Roswell?

Unless this is a confession.

I think you might want to work on your reading comprehension here. Do you need to ask that? Read the quote?

Yes, I read it. I noticed that you never once disputed the bit about all tulpas being lies, like maybe you were trying to subtly confess something. I also noticed that you redirected rather than answering my question just now. So my question remains: is Roswell real?

I thought I didn't have to respond to your no u after you ask "is this a confession" in a thread about a dude's confession which was a question that just blew my mind away with its stupidity. Me, I'm here showing you that some people do in fact lie in this community, like the person who wrote that post found out after he lied himself. Sure, that's a given, but here you hear it from the person's mouth who did it and found out he's not alone. Why the hell would I be disputing his points in here, where he's probably not even going to come, especially considering I've written tons of shit about how "real" tuppers are on these forums already?

As for the imaginary person in my head, he's about as real as an imaginary person in my head could be. But I can say he's a tulpa instead of a roleplaying character.

edit: fuck I can't type the word imaginary
