Re-post, due to lost posts.

I added a "Modern Tulpa" section to the Wikipedia entry.

I tried to suggest this before , but it was turned down:

Do we want to include a reference to the tulpa.info explanation of tulpas in the "further reading" section of the article? ( http://tulpa.info/guides/what-is-a-tulpa.html , assuming that permission was obtained first of course )

Tulpa.info is not related to Tibetan buddhism and has hijacked the word 'tulpa' (the usage has little to nothing to do with the original concept in Tibetan Buddhism) and redefines it from an individuals POV and is heavily biased. I don't think it's a reliable source.

Please consider supporting Tulpa.info.

Guys, please stop trying to add tulpas to Wikipedia. It doesn't belong there, it's been removed several times, at this point it's basically vandalism and will only make us look bad.

Astral project on my face, brother!

That's what conclusion we came to before the server got borked and all the posts got wiped.

Besides, every single addition has been written horribly and there would've been no way for them to stay even if Wikipedia was fine with .info stuff.

There is a tulpa page on TVTropes here.

A tulpa, also known as a thoughtform, is an independent entity brought into being by the power of belief. It starts out as an imaginary friend and gains sentience of its own, carries on a life independent of its creator, can be seen and heard by others, and can affect the world around them. It may come about accidentally, by someone who doesn't realize their Reality Warper powers, or may be created intentionally by one or more people with the hope of it becoming real in order to do things the creator couldn't. The word comes from certain branches of Buddhism, in which a tulpa is an object (usually a living creature) which is brought into existence by sheer will and concentration. In internet culture, a tulpa is part of a belief system in which people intentionally treat their imaginary friends as sentient beings. Several people on the reliable internet have claimed to have created some, with beliefs ranging from "It's magical" to "It's a self-induced schizophrenia". Tulpa.info is probably the largest website about the phenomenon.

Keep in mind that this focuses on tulpae in media, hence the "can affect the world" thing. Thankfully someone removed the parts about "Neo-pagen magic" and /x/ being a better source than Tulpa.info.
