A few questions about tulpas

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am new here :) I've got a few questions about tulpas. I haven't started making one yet. Here are the questions:

1. Can I kind of turn my tulpa off if I'm going to sleep or I'm gonna be doing an exam/test?

2. Can my tulpa help me on an exam/test and will it tell me the right answers?

3. Can I be creating my tulpa on a bus on my way to/from school?

4. Will my tulpa get angry if I fap to porn?

5. Will it be jealous if it is a female and I get a girlfriend?

6. Can I be in the same dream with it?

7. How long does it take to create the wonderland/do you need one?

8. Does a tulpa look a bit like a ghost and is a bit transparent?

9. Can I accidently make a servitor? If yes, how do I get rid of it? I read they can be dangerous if they exist for too long.

10. Can I change tulpa's shape and appearance when it already has one?

OK, that's it xD Sorry if I am asking too many questions ;)

1. Can I kind of turn my tulpa off if I'm going to sleep or I'm gonna be doing an exam/test?

Depends on how independent s/he is, why would you want to do that, though?

2. Can my tulpa help me on an exam/test and will it tell me the right answers?

S/he can, but it's up to him/her if s/he will do it or not, s/he's a conscious being, not a book.

3. Can I be creating my tulpa on a bus on my way to/from school?

You can do active and passive forcing on the bus (depending on how much you can concentrate in that environment), I did it.

4. Will my tulpa get angry if I fap to porn?

I've never heard of it happening, but I can't say for sure.

5. Will it be jealous if it is a female and I get a girlfriend?

Depends on what kind of relation you end up being, while some people here have romantic relationships, others just have a more "brotherly" relation, so even if they are engaged with other people they're not jealous and stuff. It's still possible for a "romantic" tulpae not to be jealous, but.. again, don't know very much about it.

6. Can I be in the same dream with it?

Some people says they had it happens, but I've never had (then again, I didn't experiment much)

7. How long does it take to create the wonderland/do you need one?

You don't need one, but I'd advise you make one, especially if you're going to force in the bus, where's usually you don't have freedom of movement. It doesn't take much to create one.. at least it didn't for me.

8. Does a tulpa look a bit like a ghost and is a bit transparent?

Depends, fully imposed tulpae look like they're real while semi-imposed or visualized tulpae clearly "aren't there".

9. Can I accidently make a servitor? If yes, how do I get rid of it? I read they can be dangerous if they exist for too long.

I don't know how to answer that.. Never wondered into servitors and stuff

10. Can I change tulpa's shape and appearance when it already has one?

That's his/her choice, while you can hint a form or personality, ultimately it's the tulpa to chose which one s/he wants.

1. I suppose it's possible. You could also just explain them that exams and sleep are important, and they'll most likely understand.

2. Some say that tulpas could help them remember stuff better. They will tell you what they (or you) think is "the right answer", but they won't be able to tell you the right answer to a question on a subject you've never studied. Tulpas are still a part of your brain, they can't "find" knowledge that you didn't have in the first place.

3. Sure. You could even work on them during recess, and a bit during classes, but that would be "passive" forcing (doing stuff with your tulpa while still doing other activities). "Active" forcing, however, requires more concentration, and can be done during long trips, or by sitting in your bedroom with no distractions around.

4. If they don't like sitting next to you when that happens, you could suggest that they go in the wonderland for a few minutes, have some time for yourself, and then call them back. If they find that you're spending way too much time doing that, maybe you should consider doing it less often.

5. I don't have much information on this subject, but I think a few users here have both a boy/girlfriend and a tulpa of the opposite gender, and the tulpa doesn't mind it at all.

6. I suppose that's possible. I don't have much information on that either.

7.You shouldn't rely on people's experiences when it comes to the time it takes to make a tulpa or a wonderland. Making one (or several) wonderland(s) is not necessary, but most people see it as a good way to have fun with their tulpas when they're doing active forcing.

8. At first, you don't "see" your tulpa, you can just kind of "imagine" that they're here. Just like when you read a novel and end up "seeing" what happens in the novel, but only as an imagined picture. We call that the "mind's eye" most of the time. If you work on imposition later on, you'll be able to see your tulpa as though it were really in front of you; in this case, the tulpa's form could be fully opaque, and prevent you from seeing what's behind it, or so I heard. Don't take my word for it, I'm not really into imposition for now.

9. You can turn a servitor into a tulpa if you keep working on it, so even if you had one, it shouldn't be too much trouble.

Servitors could only become dangerous if you worry way too much about that. To get rid of one, all you have to do is ignore it for a while. Servitors and tulpa live on thanks to the attention you give them. If you don't think about your servitor for several days/weeks/months (depending on how developed it is), it will eventually be nothing more than a memory.

10. Sure. A form is not a definitive detail of the tulpa, and they can change it at anytime. Some tulpamancers have shapeshifting tulpas that rarely keep their forms for more than several weeks, I believe.

Don't be afraid to post too many questions, that's what this part of the forum is for, anyway. Make sure you use the search function just in case someone already asked the question you have in mind, though.

1. Can I kind of turn my tulpa off if I'm going to sleep or I'm gonna be doing an exam/test?

I don’t think they could have the functionality of a light switch. Even if they end up being independent (as in being more autonomous from your conscious mind), it’s merely a matter of shifting your awareness somewhere else.

2. Can my tulpa help me on an exam/test and will it tell me the right answers?

It depends on your level of cognition and metacognition to be able to learn how to memorize and find out what learning style(s) can help you succeed in the exams/tests. If you didn’t study, obviously the chances of you passing would be very low. Some may have certain aptitude(s) that can find answers in unique ways, but even so, it’s not something you should rely on to absolve from actually studying.

3. Can I be creating my tulpa on a bus on my way to/from school?

They can be created anywhere. Although with the distractions, noises, chattering and such might affect your concentration. Some can easily go through the creation process despite of all that, but the general idea is that the mind is going to need time to make connections to make the tulpa “real” to the host.

4. Will my tulpa get angry if I fap to porn?

Depends on whether or not they dislike overly sexual material.

5. Will it be jealous if it is a female and I get a girlfriend?

This is a fairly loaded question, and it’s really dependent on many factors. One that comes to mind is the tulpa’s overall being. If they have a traits that may induce jealousy or envy, then it’s probable. However, depending on how you put things into perspective, some may state that a tulpa may be more intuitive with host’s feeling and share the same affection for their partner. Others feel tulpa would be more vicarious beings and wouldn’t be jealous because the host has a girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse.

6. Can I be in the same dream with it?

Although there isn’t scientific evidence for this, the thought-form would be within the confines of your mind, which means it’s probable for them to share the same somatic and psychosomatic experiences during non-REM and REM cycles in sleep for non-lucid and lucid dreaming.

7. How long does it take to create the wonderland/do you need one?

Creating a wonderland doesn’t have a fixed time pattern, there are many factors that can aid in better visualization and concentration on a wonderland. As for actually needing one, some may feel it’s useful to have a consistent place of reference for you and the thought-forms you engage with. Some may use it because of fears of their tulpa being affected by whatever reason they make up.

8. Does a tulpa look a bit like a ghost and is a bit transparent?

Their form would be considered a hallucinatory manifestation depending what you want to impose (visual, auditory, touch, etc.). The default answer to this is that they’re going to be transparent or intangible. However, some anecdotes from others state they can “feel” their tulpa, but not necessarily with the same tangibility of touching anyone else. It just depends on your level of skill in sensory imposition.

9. Can I accidently make a servitor? If yes, how do I get rid of it? I read they can be dangerous if they exist for too long.

The term servitor isn’t really well-defined, and it’s a matter of disposition, some may feel that the lower sentience would make them a servitor, and others may think differently. Whatever you read of them being dangerous if they exist for too long is merely anecdotal evidence you’re relying on. All of the generalizations and theories about tulpa should be considered ad hoc. Simply because there isn’t a scientific study or experiment that would be reliable enough to prove those anecdotal claims.

It can only be a big issue if you have a mindset that continually harbors that fear.

10. Can I change tulpa's shape and appearance when it already has one?

A tulpa, unlike us in the physiological sense, can be adaptive and change into whatever form they want. It’s all a matter of disposition between the host, tulpa, and the confines of the host’s mind in general. They won’t be “stuck” forever in a form, they can deviate.

1. Can I kind of turn my tulpa off if I'm going to sleep or I'm gonna be doing an exam/test?

You can but a better alternative might be just asking said tulpa to leave you alone during these periods or to not bother you if leaving you alone isn't what he/she want to do.

2. Can my tulpa help me on an exam/test and will it tell me the right answers?

Mine used to help me when I was in college.. so yes. Just remember that he/she might not know the right answer either or want to help you on exams.

3. Can I be creating my tulpa on a bus on my way to/from school?

You can create your tulpa in any environment that you are able to focus in.

4. Will my tulpa get angry if I fap to porn?

I doubt it personally. They may be concerned if it is quite often or if the material you are looking at is unpleasant to them and talk to you about it but even then, its not anger.

5. Will it be jealous if it is a female and I get a girlfriend?

Depends. If you and your tulpa were 'together' and then you got a girlfriend without really talking about it with the tulpa, they may be upset. He/She may also be upset if the girlfriend takes a lot of your time away from them. Best way to avoid this is to just talk to the tulpa about this before things happen.

6. Can I be in the same dream with it?

I've had zero luck with this but people here have managed it.

7. How long does it take to create the wonderland/do you need one?

Not very long. I did mine within a day. Started with a white room and added to it until I got what I wanted. You don't need one but it makes a safe container to make a tulpa in.

8. Does a tulpa look a bit like a ghost and is a bit transparent?

Depends on what you mean by looking at a tulpa. There's imposing (seeing it in real life) and visualization (seeing it in your head). From my experience, I never had a tulpa look ghost-like but I have had one look not formed all the way when I was making one.

9. Can I accidently make a servitor? If yes, how do I get rid of it? I read they can be dangerous if they exist for too long.

I don't have much experience in servitors. Since people can make tulpa's accidently, you can make servitors accidently as well. I imagine getting rid of them is the same as a tulpa as well (just ignore it long enough). I doubt they can be dangerous.

10. Can I change tulpa's shape and appearance when it already has one?

You can but just remember that when they gain more independence, that they may change whatever form you have given them. I wouldn't recommend trying to change a fully created tulpa's form though unless they are ok with it.

1. My tulpa and I share access to a servitor, which we use for things like disconnecting our thoughts. We usually disconnect our thoughts for the span of an hour, just because it makes it easier to fall asleep. The connection wears off after an hour because I enjoy sharing dreams with her. Disconnecting like this is not necessary -- we have, on occasion, fallen asleep while still connected. We wouldn't bother disconnecting for an exam.

2. Eventually your tulpa can help you to remember things far better. But you still need to study -- or your tulpa will need to study. And I still don't believe that a tulpa can ever be smarter than a host, although they can know more about certain subjects than the host does. Some people disagree with me here.

3. You can work on your tulpa anywhere you can focus. I don't think a bus ride will be good for active forcing, but you should be able to passive force just fine.

4. Depends on the personality you give it. Probably not.

5. Again, it depends on the personality you give her. My tulpa has never been jealous of my girlfriend. In fact, she likes her.

6. My tulpa spoke to me in a dream once while she was awake and I was asleep.

7. You don't need a wonderland, but it doesn't take long. It's easy and fun.

8. A tulpa should look just as real as an actual person.

9. Servitors are no more dangerous than tulpa. And it's easy to turn a servitor into a tulpa.

10. You can change a tulpa's appearance. But it's better if they do it.

"'Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you.'"

[Watchdog 3 says: I would suggest that you consider searching for answers before posting as most have been answered already in other threads. However I understand that many have difficulties with it (it only seems to work if you use just a single word as the search term).

Since most have answer these, I'll just cover the ones not "fleshed out".

A servitor is pretty tame generally. Even very old servitors stay that way. I think you are confusing servitors with Tibetan method tulpas - who can possibly go bad without lots of prior training before starting. Don't worry about it - these modern methods don't have that problem generally.

If a tulpa is made as a shape shifter from the start, she can change her form at will (if she wills, like Nobillis often does.]

Please consider supporting Tulpa.info.

Maybe offering advice is a little presumptuous for my very first post, but what the hey, as someone who's only had a tulpa for a few months let me see if I can answer a couple of these from my own early experiences with Thunderfall, just to give another helping hand. I'll just skip any I don't think I can answer.

1. Can I kind of turn my tulpa off if I'm going to sleep or I'm gonna be doing an exam/test?

Rather than, as you put it, 'turning Thunder off' I tend to just ask him politely to keep quiet for a while and just leave me to it when I'm taking a driving lesson or trying to work on something important, and I'll check in with him periodically. If needs be I'll attempt to remove myself from our world rather than stopping him from functioning.

3. Can I be creating my tulpa on a bus on my way to/from school?

As long as you can maintain your concentration, absolutely. I did almost all of my initial forcing on the move apart from a couple of quiet sessions at the beginning. I think your first couple of sessions should be somewhere quiet and controlled though, so you can get a feel for the process without distractions. You might find listening to music on the bus will help distance you from the noises around you and keep you 'in your own head' so to speak, I gather school buses can be quite noisy...

4. Will my tulpa get angry if I fap to porn?

Depends entirely on their personality. But I would keep your tulpa out of the process; Thunder understands that I have urges, he would just rather not have to see me doing it. In our wonderland we have separate bedrooms, and if I want to go do something private in the outside world I'll put myself in there and lock the door until I'm done.

6. Can I be in the same dream with it?

I haven't had any conscious dreams with Thunderfall, but apparently we once went golfing together while I was asleep... But as the two of us now go to bed at roughly the same time (unless I black out while forcing in bed) as far as I know it hasn't happened since.

7. How long does it take to create the wonderland/do you need one?

A wonderland isn't necessary, but personally I consider it much easier to focus on Thunder if I can place him in a scene. If you have any amount of imagination (and frankly you must have if you're planning a tulpa) then it's super-easy. Just start with a small room that you can interact with him/her in. That's all you need do at first, you can flesh it out when they start getting more independent.

10. Can I change tulpa's shape and appearance when it already has one?

You can but they might not be pleased with the idea. Thunderfall has changed his form twice for extremely brief periods, but I apologised and explained that I just couldn't deal with the change, as they happened during stressful periods, so he changed back, and now he seems more-or-less settled. I wouldn't just force a change on them, but rather discuss the idea with them. Everything you do should be a partnership, so you both need to be on-board with any changes you make.

1. Can I kind of turn my tulpa off if I'm going to sleep or I'm gonna be doing an exam/test?

That depends on the tulpa i think, but it's not necesary

2. Can my tulpa help me on an exam/test and will it tell me the right answers?

Unless you create a smart tulpa,he/she will have the same intelligence as you,but he/she can always copy what the smarter is writting

3. Can I be creating my tulpa on a bus on my way to/from school?

Yeah,if you still concentrating

4. Will my tulpa get angry if I fap to porn?

I don't really know how to answer that...

5. Will it be jealous if it is a female and I get a girlfriend?

-Depends on the relationship with your tulpa

-Depends too on how jealous did you created her

-Tulpas rarelly get angry for something you did, they are part of your mind so they'll understand you

6. Can I be in the same dream with it?

Yep (Yes)

7. How long does it take to create the wonderland/do you need one?

It's not necesary but recommended.People says that it's easy but not so much for me,you have to think on a wonderland

8. Does a tulpa look a bit like a ghost and is a bit transparent?

Depends on the form of your tulpa, but i don't really know

9. Can I accidently make a servitor? If yes, how do I get rid of it? I read they can be dangerous if they exist for too long.

As i know, servitors are made of psi,and you're not creating a construction of psi, also one technique says that you have to look to your tulpa for 2 continously hours, and if you do that with psi you would get in bad state so...Answer:No,and they get out automatically if someone is going to see something that would create chaos

10. Can I change tulpa's shape and appearance when it already has one?

If your tulpa and you like it,yes

But if your tulpa changes without asking you and you like it,it's better to let the tulpa have it's own form
