what difficulty did you play on, what house did you go, and were you on classic or casual

Hey there, the name's Bryan. In system Re:Body(In order of the rainbow):

Sean, Esper, Blinky, Compact, Janey, Kyle, Gwen'd, Gwen, Emily, Rollin, Waynin, Trease, Layy, Justin, Chloe, Zachery, and Elliot.

I've been here a while. Much longer than I thought I'd be. Our system was founded October 2nd, 2018. In early 2020, we decided that due to our systems exponential growth, we'd limit who would be active. Now, every month, we do a check to see who wishes to be in dormancy and who wishes to be active. Currently, for the month of April, 2023, we've got myself(Bryan), Janey(Co-host), Emily, Layy, Chloe, and Esper(sub-rep). After over 2 long years, we can finally switch :)

Bryan is currently swapped in as host, Esper is sub-rep.

Fire Emblem is basically a "tactics" genre, but Octopath is typical JRPG. Being huge Pokemon fans (until Sword/Shield) didn't stop us from enjoying early Final Fantasies and then Bravely Default/Bravely Second

Hi. I'm one of Luminesce's tulpas. Unlike the others, I don't think I stand out too much from him personality wise.

I'm just special because "I'm a tulpa". So I don't think I've much to offer, here. I'm happy enough to just be with him.

Right. Octopath is a better parallel to pokemon than FE, but I thought I'd mention it anyways

I can't remember what difficulty I was on, but I think it was either normal or hard, I don't remember the name of the house, but it was the one with edelgard, and I was on classic, but nobody died so the permadeath never came into play

I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much.

Ah. Black Eagles is fun, did you end up siding with the church or with edelgard?

Either way, I'd wager you played on normal, which for fe3h is basically "easy." And yeah, in general, turtling works very well, but fucking hell it's slow so most people typically push out and take risks (unless you're playing on maddening, then turtling is a necessity)

We've only played one Fire Emblem game personally - Lumi played Sacred Stones when he was like 9. But Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Advance 2 (Grimoire of the Rift) are some of our favorite games of all time.

*laughs in staring matches with the computer* I play more RTS/turn based strat games than JRPGs but I've definitely done some plodding methodical strats. It depends on the bang for buck. Can I mash the same attack and spam end turn? Can I get the objective, or "high ground" or momentum in my favor then just sit the timer out to take the win? Can I focus fire down one unit at a time and slowly take the city one district at a time, min-maxing casualties? I'm also the kind of person that plays Skyrim/Fallout at 1/4 speed because if there is a stealth mechanic I insist on using it and save scum like a little bitch if I miss the headshot.

I hate it when, in order to have fun, I have to play non optimally. once I am more experienced with a game, then I might start playing non-optimally to keep things fresh, but if doing what the game encourages you to do results in the game not being fun, then that's just bad game design

I wonder if my experience with fire emblem is also made worse by my experience with xcom, since they are both tactics RPGs, but xcom is way more brutal and most of the time pushing out and taking unnecessary risks will just lead to heartbreak, and so I have been trained to be more cautious
