Cuttlefish are cool!

When we were diving in the coral sea they would approach us from all sides and do their flashy color change thing. I like them.

Humboldt squid on the other hand are alien nightmare territory.

People know a lot about animals. I'm like a elementary schooler and can name farm animals and a couple common pets

I have a general question: Is calling someone a weeb offensive? I've heard the term but I don't know if it's an insult or more of an affectionate thing.

Ten years ago and any time before that, "weeb" was just short for "weeaboo", which was a term for people who were obsessed with anime culture and usually pretty immature, stereotypically mixing Japanese words in with English in cringy ways. It was an insult used by other internet-goers to insult anime fans who may or may not have really qualified as a "weeaboo"

In recent years though, we've basically never heard anyone say weeaboo, while weeb has come to mean "shameless anime fan". It's common to call someone a weeb for liking an anime like Love Live, or for collecting figurines, or for watching an excessive amount of anime. It's used almost to categorize people now in the same way "furry" is - it could be meant as an insult, but at least in the Touhou circles and friend groups we're in, it's a jokey term at most.

We and people we know use the term weeb just to refer to stuff people should jokingly-but-not-seriously be ashamed of, like "I'm watching a cutesy slice of life anime, I've become a weeb"

We have not seen anyone offended by the term that actually fit the definition even back in 2006. We have not seen anyone offended by the term who just kind of liked anime/Japanese stuff but was otherwise mature in like... 9-10 years

Hi. I'm one of Luminesce's tulpas. Unlike the others, I don't think I stand out too much from him personality wise.

I'm just special because "I'm a tulpa". So I don't think I've much to offer, here. I'm happy enough to just be with him.

In 2006 I don't think I even knew what anime was so concept of a weeaboo didn't exist for me.

I guess it evolved kind of like how nerd isn't that offensive anymore

If someone called me a weeaboo or weeb not as a joke I would probably feel pretty annoyed though

Everything is considered 'offensive' by someone nowadays

Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia takes ~60 hours to complete. I first played it at a time where I had very little to do, and I completed it in 4 or 5 days. good times
