a professional 3D modeler told me that creating textures manually in a program like Substance Painter is the best route for a 3D artist and that it would be bad and inefficient to avoid

 

so add one more entire skill/program I need to learn to the list

 

I'm up to like ~3, but at this rate that number is going to go up to like 12 before I can actually complete a game..

Your going the path I was supposed to be going in based on my Senior Project. It was about videogame development and I wanted to be a video game developer/concept artist. You're actually getting the skills to do that

 

I wish I was cool and could have made a video game or something for senior project, instead nope I made a manual for ninja gaiden which is useless but adults don't know what it is or care so just believed me that it mattered in some way to getting a job and gave me diploma

I literally started Blender with every intent to never ever touch a paint program

 

at this point I could've just learned 2D art with 1/4 the required time investment

I like your work TB, they always look good even if something is off. When I first saw the hands I thought "damn, those hands look good". For the distressed lady, maybe it's the lips curving in a smile throwing things off?

Wait, that's how the game designer server reacted? They sound like an immature group of teenagers. Giving criticism and feedback is part of any creative work, they sound really insecure if they're berating you for trying to help them out. I hope you can find a better server if that's the norm there.

 

Anyway, I don't think you're nothing. I don't know your school life, to me you're a kid figuring things out who sometimes steps on toes but inside is actually a caring person. I think you're creative and I find that we're somehow on the same wavelength despite having a lot of differences. I think you have a reputation, but I have seen you work to change for the better over time.

 

Game design or creative work is hard to talk about without self-doxxing. Gray has a game idea he's excited about, but if he told people about it he would probably self-doxx himself if people liked the game. However, Gray isn't a game designer (yet!)
