Luminesce July 29, 2022 Share July 29, 2022 Something along the lines of sarcasm I also never miss a chance to mention any of the countless awful things the US has done Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature. My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.
Glaurung26 July 29, 2022 Share July 29, 2022 Yea I'm not going to pretend ANY institution is benevolent. Or even malevolent necessarily. The good or bad is done by specific human beings. Just don't hold the living responsible for the deeds of the dead. Going with the cycle of revenge/violence thing. Game companies are a good example. Blizzard of today is not the Blizzard of the 90s. Or Bethesda. Or any of the fallen darlings of the game industry. People come and go. New talent is important to find and cultivate. You can't rely on Brand (tm) to do good things forever. There is always at least three more secret bug tunnels for every one that you find. Roaches (yes, even the large American ones) in particular can crawl through the tiniest of gaps and hang out in the tightest of spaces. 1 hour ago, Breloomancer said: grrrr, happy day hahahahahaha Edited July 29, 2022 by Ranger Note: I am very inactive on this account. Yakumo July 29, 2022 Share July 29, 2022 New Nature metastudy seriously questions the serotonin model of depression. There is no convincing evidence that depression is associated with, or caused by, lower serotonin concentrations or activity. Quote The chemical imbalance theory of depression is still put forward by professionals, and the serotonin theory, in particular, has formed the basis of a considerable research effort over the last few decades. The general public widely believes that depression has been convincingly demonstrated to be the result of serotonin or other chemical abnormalities, and this belief shapes how people understand their moods, leading to a pessimistic outlook on the outcome of depression and negative expectancies about the possibility of self-regulation of mood. The idea that depression is the result of a chemical imbalance also influences decisions about whether to take or continue antidepressant medication and may discourage people from discontinuing treatment, potentially leading to lifelong dependence on these drugs. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41380-022-01661-0 The issue with all those studies is, as the authors acknowledge, that most of them are of questionable quality. Working with humans is complicated and expensive and everyone is different. Yet the idea that you can fix depression by swallowing happy pills is clearly naive. Glaurung26 July 29, 2022 Share July 29, 2022 I'm upset because my happy pills ran out, not because my job is soul crushing and unfulfilling, or people are convincing me the world is -ist and -phobic. Back to the pharmacy! There's nothing more monetizable than loneliness and despair. Maybe sex. It's pretty comparable. Ice909 July 29, 2022 Share July 29, 2022 gmf Hey there, the name's Bryan. In system Re:Body(In order of the rainbow): Sean, Esper, Blinky, Compact, Janey, Kyle, Gwen'd, Gwen, Emily, Rollin, Waynin, Trease, Layy, Justin, Chloe, Zachery, and Elliot. I've been here a while. Much longer than I thought I'd be. Our system was founded October 2nd, 2018. In early 2020, we decided that due to our systems exponential growth, we'd limit who would be active. Now, every month, we do a check to see who wishes to be in dormancy and who wishes to be active. Currently, for the month of April, 2023, we've got myself(Bryan), Janey(Co-host), Emily, Layy, Chloe, and Esper(sub-rep). After over 2 long years, we can finally switch :) Bryan is currently swapped in as host, Esper is sub-rep. I saw a Newsweek article talking about that this morning, and I panicked. After getting my cool together, I figured I should do more research. The studies being questionable at best make a lot of sense. Thank you for pointing this out, this will help me when we are ready to dive into the research Note: I am very inactive on this account.
