Yeah that's pretty cool. I generally buy earphones with mic as well but due to their structure and my use frequency they rapidly lose their use life...

Once he tried to push it and he almost burnt his face cause one had exposed wires that caught fire right next to his face... He was fine though cause he has made that mistake before twice so he knows how to avoid it. That means his lovely face is still intact!

Sasha please no but yeah I have had a close shave with an overheated fan before, had my face right next to it and it freaking combusted in my face lmao.

Edit: By the way what time is it for you TB? It is 8:54AM here 2/6/23

this is still unhealthy thinking TB, you just need to learn to function normally

---

lightning just struck so close to our house that I heard a bang noise from our roof a split second before it happened

I thought it struck our house for a second lol, but it sounded like it came from a certain direction, and then a friend who lives down the street said they heard the same thing so I guess it was just force from the lightning being so close

Hi, I'm one of Lumi's tulpas! I like rain and dancing and dancing in the rain and if there's frogs there too that's bonus points.

I think being happy and having fun makes life worth living, so spreading happiness is my number one goal!

yes, wanting to stop having any responsibilities and just let other people supply your food/shelter is unhealthy thinking, it won't lead you to actually being able to take care of yourself

the lightning was 0.2 miles/300 meters away from our house

weather app lists recent lightning strike locations

and idk, I'm just unsure on if removing yourself from all the stimuli and scenarios you need to learn to cope with will ever allow you to go back to them okay, it just seems unlikely

all reasoning says you have to tackle the stimuli head-on to actually do anything with them

and since your meditation isn't even reflective on things but completely mentally unrelated, I just doubt that it'll ever make you suddenly able to cope with stuff

it might put you in a slightly better place to try, but the work that has to be done to not fall into helplessness can be done now as well, to me it seems most likely that you'd get pulled back to your current-ish state when suddenly surrounded by the stimuli you live in again, idk if you would be able to resist a whole livelihood's worth of stimuli trying to put you back mentally where they've all been associated with

I don't understand your last sentence fully, particularly the end of it

And well I'd at least like to have retreats under my belt I guess. I need to access the 8 jhanas and have a cessation, which seems hard to accomplish just meditating an hour a day

I'm basically saying "If you're unable to deal with the many, many things in life you need to be dealing with, and then you leave those all behind for a while to improve your mental well-being, but do not mentally address those specific things you needed to deal with, then even if you feel better, when you come back to being surrounded by them again you will very likely be pulled back into your previous mental state"

and that the mental work that would still need to be done later after returning in order to live happily/deal with life, is just as well done now as then

it might or might not get easier to do after returning, but you'll also probably lose whatever benefits you gained really fast as being surrounded by old stimuli/stressors put you right back mentally where you started

laid out like that though, there's a pretty equal sounding balance between trying either first I guess, I was saying the time you spend now might just be wasted when you come back to the life you're not able to deal with yet, but maybe that's of equal counterbalance to the boost of feeling ready to take things on you may or may not get from meditating at a retreat

so I guess just do whatever, but keep in mind the stressors and difficult situations in your life will always still be there waiting for you no matter where you leave to or for how long, and they will need to be mentally dealt with eventually

(TL;DR Don't go meditate and get happy and expect to come back to an easy life, or you'll just be dragged back down to your old mental state - remember that you will need to pave over the old neural pathways for countless things eventually no matter what, but you can do whatever helps you prepare to do that; you just can't skip eventually dealing with things, is all)

Okay. Yeah I don't expect life problems to just go away. There is many healing things that one can get out of meditation though. I'd probably come back with a mind more resilient to things going bad
