Tired, I applied for a job this morning, but the other person rejected me because my hair was too long

Made a basic Kirby model, threw it in Substance Painter to try the program out and it works

 

My head hurts so I can't be bothered to make the eyes/mouth better (I closed without even saving), just wanted to test out Substance Painter for the first time and was successful

 

(Substance Painter is pretty fancy, I used the Plastic Matte Pure material colored pink there, but I could also have used for example a glossy version or a totally different one, and then I can mess with say the depth and roughness to customize the material further - heck of a program!)

Yes, I tied my hair back, but they still didn't want me. I worked at quite a few places around here two or three years ago, and as far as I know almost all of these companies have rules like that - even if you tie your hair up or hide it. Men wearing long hair is against the rules of heaven in our country.

However, there are also some jobs that are not picky, but those are truly garbage. It is usually a highly mobile and heavy physical labor, such as sorting large parcels through express delivery, and working in two shifts. Three years ago, I worked for a few days and was really impressed - one night, I drank three bottles of water but didn't have any urge to pee.

Things are looking up. I just finished Driver’s Ed and am going to get on the road in just a few days

 

Insurance is pricey, though, so I don’t think I’m ever gonna actually be able to use my license until I start living on my own

@Luminesce Phil told me to tell you that he deals with the same problem as you. He says the only way to really combat it is to think about each small step one at a time.

@Valaeus If you don't mind me asking, what country are you from? This kind of thing used to happen in America as recently as 15-20 years ago. (In fact, happened to Phil himself when he was 21 and long-haired) But there has been a huge culture change here. Whereas most jobs used to not allow people to work with long hair (for guys), excessive piercings, visible tattoos, etc, nowadays it's very common to see all of that and more and nobody blinks an eye.

 

@TB Sorry to hear you've been having depressed thoughts in the morning. Eating a good meal helps more than you think.

 

@ringgggg Congratulations! 😁 Driving is really fun, and Phil lets me drive sometimes. 🚗 Sucks that you have to contend with Atlanta traffic though!
