Much longer than I thought I'd be. Our system was founded October 2nd, 2018. In early 2020, we decided that due to our systems exponential growth, we'd limit who would be active. Now, every month, we do a check to see who wishes to be in dormancy and who wishes to be active. Currently, for the month of April, 2023, we've got myself(Bryan), Janey(Co-host), Emily, Layy, Chloe, and Esper(sub-rep). After over 2 long years, we can finally switch :) Bryan is currently swapped in as host, Esper is sub-rep. TB September 19 Share September 19 (edited) Idk lol spooky dog being petted footage I didn't even notice at first cuz I often watch Twitter videos without sound Also is everything alright with Ice or what happened today? Idk if you said nooo cuz I said GN (good noon) or something else slaying a buddha is one of the 5 unpardonable sins in buddhism I think you should get an award for managing to slay something that is tier 0 boundless on the power scale That or it was an inside job because it could have only happened because they allowed it, in which case you've been set up I think I remember reading before that actually all you have to do is draw blood from a buddha to reach that level of sin. kill an arhat, or make a buddha bleed, or killing your father, mother, or creating division in priesthood I guess asian cultures are heavy into filial piety. I don't think killing your father or mother should be so high on the list without nuance. It seems way worse in some contexts when you have loving parents that do their best for you but sometimes parents can be monstrous oh well finger necklace was almost so cooked if the buddha wasn't capable of walking backwards faster than he could sprint lol which gave him time to talk him down wonder what kind of religion buddhism would be like if buddha's story ended at finger necklace also the machinations of my mind are an enigma. i started thinking about my ex because of a five night's at freddy's degenerates video, which lead me down a rabbit whole of thoughts about philosophy which lead to me googling what does deathless mean in buddhism which lead to me getting unrelated responses mentioning the 5 unpardonable sins which lead to the above joke. hm. nice thing to notice Edited September 19 by TB Creation for creation's sake. TB September 19 Share September 19 (edited) 1 hour ago, Breloomancer said: that can't be right. a buddhist master famously said "if you meet the buddha on the road, kill him" I've heard Frank Yang say that. It seems to be part of a longer quote from a zen master. Though zen masters seem to rarely say things that are meant to be taken literally. They like koans that are confusing and frustrating to understand and break down your concept of things, or something. I don't get the teaching style very well and my literal mind that likes things clearly explained doesn't work with it well Trying to read about what they mean by it on reddit, it is maybe something to do with being wary of dogmaticism, or something to do with warning against a person's idea of what enlightenment is. I think Yang had another explanation but idr what it is and yang is kind of in zen hard to understand category for me for like 60% of the things he says lol It's fun to read buddhists try explaining buddhist concepts to other buddhists on reddit and based on the passive aggressiveness of the text it seems like they probably look like this guy behind their keyboard also it was hard to find an image of this face. idk what it is called. typing in meme faces or meme expressions or meme characters, all you get are memes from like 2012 that literally no one uses anymore, so wtf. Are they not called memes anymore? i slowly transformed into this guy while looking for an image of him Though yeah I couldn't handle a zen temple. They would break my mind with their vague confusing teachings, and they also like to say shocking and offensive things to shock you or even just scream to startle you. Some japanese temples (i think zen) also hit you with rods. It's like bootcamp for enlightenment, probably speedrun for mental breakdown/schizophrenia for me, but maybe sometimes it can be a powerful way there idk 40 minutes ago, TurboSimmie said: Hum be dum be dum Edited September 19 by TB Creation for creation's sake. TB September 19 Share September 19 (edited) reading on reddit though i got a funny anecdote of apparently a high level korean zen master and high level tibetan master having a talk at Harvard in the 70s or something at the beginning of the meeting, the zen master walks over to the tibetan master and shows him an orange, and shouts "what's this?!" the tibetan master ignores him and fiddles with his mali beads zen master shouts again, "what's this?!" the tibetan master says, "what, have you never seen an orange before?" Breloomancer September 19 Share September 19 i love koans. not so much a fan of bring screamed at or hit with sticks though to call a sin unforgivable is inherently dogmatic perhaps it is like the pentabarf. a discordian must never eat hotdogs with a bun, to honor eris, but a discordian must also ritualistically eat hotdogs with a bun, to ward off discordianism I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much. Luminesce September 19 Share September 19 I've been told Buddhism is generally taught in a wide variety of ways, with it being accepted there's no one strict "right" way to teach its concepts So it makes sense they'd disagree on things when it came to it lol Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature. My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.
