i love koans. not so much a fan of bring screamed at or hit with sticks though

koans are interesting to hear but I don't feel comfortable relying on them as a tool because my brain blue screens. Maybe the only koan I actually use from now and again is "what am I?"

screamed at and hit with sticks doesn't sound fun in most contexts

to call a sin unforgivable is inherently dogmatic

I suppose so. I actually also just read an excerpt of the buddha someone posted where he tells his disciples how someone could commit the avici sins and not be sent to avici (the 5 unpardonable sins)

I did not comprehend it very well though so I can't explain it

perhaps it is like the pentabarf. a discordian must never eat hotdogs with a bun, to honor eris, but a discordian must also ritualistically eat hotdogs with a bun, to ward off discordianism

Being a discordian sounds stressful, though why does a discordian want to ward of discordianism? I guess commiting a discordian sin would do that maybe but it sounds like that is a part of the practice lol

Ward off Christians by listening to any music considered gothic or emo. Ward off christians by coveting your neighbors goat

I've been told Buddhism is generally taught in a wide variety of ways, with it being accepted there's no one strict "right" way to teach its concepts

So it makes sense they'd disagree on things when it came to it lol

Yeah there is such a wide variety of buddhisms that they can basically be like different religions I feel like. Comparing Theravaden to Tibetan to Zen is less like comparing Baptist, Lutheran, and Methodist and more like comparing Judaism and Christianity and Islam or something. A christian going to a different denomination church could probably end up not actually noticing much of a difference where as a theravaden buddhist going to a zen temple is probably going to get a huge culture shock and shock in the way things are done and they way they think and in the things they choose to teach and they are connected mainly just by the fact they follow the buddha. Theravaden buddhists study and follow the pali canon, while afaik zen does not believe in using any real official text and like to teach by transmission from masters

That is one of the million variations of a wojak, or "feels guy". It's one of the few meme faces from the early-2010s "rage era" that survived in common usage.

Ohhhhhh thanks for telling me. I don't recall seeing them in the early 2010s. 2010s always had these from what I remember in highschool

Spoiler

I never see those anymore at all ever, if someone posted one they would probably be told they must have just woke up from their cryogenic chamber

I feel like I started seeing "wojack" after 2020. maaaaybe as early as 2016 I am not sure, but if they were in existence at 2010s then maybe. I do know it was some time after the trump era started that I recall seeing them

As you can tell by the name, it was popular in polish (and other european language) imageboards for a while before being picked up in the west, but Simmie's right, apparently wojak dates all the way back to at least 2009, which is crazy to me, I would've said 2014

discordianism values free thought and creative disorder. to follow the dogma of discordianism would run counter to the catma. the rules exist to be broken

in discordianism, we don't just passively kill any buddhas we come across. we are proactive, and create new buddhas just so we can kill them

I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much.

Oh I see lol. Really is the religion of a no good trouble maker

I was never into meme images in 2012. I find some wojak ones nowadays to be entertaining though, or chad profile guy meme whatever it is called saying something based, or insert thing here fan and insert thing here enjoyer

Seems outdated now but I miss the sped up gifs of people manicly explaining some complex idea lol, I haven't seen it in a long time. me when I'm explaining my dbz head cannon

oh my tea finally came, only almost 2 weeks late. I intended to pester them today about if they were sending a replacement or not but forgot. good that I forgot I guess

adderall works 200x better I think if I meditate before taking it or start meditating immediately after taking it. If I do not do that, I am more likely to meander around like I normally do for quite some time

Though doesn't help that I am hungry so it could be that as the issue too, and I slept 4 something hours, but I woke up feeling well rested for some reason

that can't be right. a buddhist master famously said "if you meet the buddha on the road, kill him"

I think you may be confusing it for a doppelganger conspiracy

What do you like on your hotdog?

Is it not just equivalent to the phrase "Kill your heroes"?

idk, i think some people seem to interpret it as something like that, but it seems like people have other ideas on what it is supposed to mean too
