I guess negative mass is a silly concept like "there's existing, and not existing, but what if there was NEGATIVE existence???", which doesn't make any sense at all I'm not the one who brought up that nonsensical concept though, negative matter still exists Hi! I guess negative mass is a silly concept like "there's existing, and not existing, but what if there was NEGATIVE existence???", which doesn't make any sense at all negative mass would mainly have implications on a particle's inertia and how it interacts with gravity. it's much less counterintuitive than the idea of negative existence. although nonetheless, antiparticles of particles with positive mass also have positive mass 22 minutes ago, Luminesce said: negative matter still exists in what i have seen "negative mass" and "negative matter" are used synchronously. if that is not how you are using it, what do you mean by "negative matter"? Luminesce October 6 Share October 6 Like adding a negative number to a positive number, pretty simple Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. Breloomancer October 6 Share October 6 huh?? what positive number do you add the negative number to? I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much. TB October 6 Share October 6 (edited) To make things even more confusing in the negative mass, negative matter discussion, I guess tachyons don't have negative mass, they have negative mass squared, which means that have imaginary mass. According to google anyway. If they exist anyway, but still I guess that is how they work in the math equations they are used in or whatever. I wasn't sure if negative mass and imaginary mass were the same but I guess they are not scientists making things up for days lol reading people with degree in physics saying they have trouble understanding it so I'm not going to feel bad that I don't get it Edited October 6 by TB Creation for creation's sake. Antimatter cancels out "normal" matter Adding -5 to 5 (But you could also say antimatter is just matter and what we know as matter is antimatter, I think) Edited October 6 by Luminesce Hi! ringgggg October 6 Share October 6 24 minutes ago, TB said: lol reading people with degree in physics saying they have trouble understanding it A concept's fathomability is measured by how easy it is to visualize 1 hour ago, Luminesce said: I guess negative mass is a silly concept like "there's existing, and not existing, but what if there was NEGATIVE existence???", which doesn't make any sense at all I think you could use a better analogy. Existence is an idea, as opposed to being material, so of course it wouldn't make sense if you tried to apply a numerical value to it. It'd be like adding one to addition D-prime is shrinking as we speak. Official LOTPW leaderboard Our imposition progress report

Luminesce October 6 Share October 6 It's just the most obvious go-to analogy, I don't know why anyone wouldn't We all took 5th grade math right? Hi! Breloomancer October 6 Share October 6 because usually negative matter means matter with negative mass. and because both antiparticles and their normal counterparts have positive energy, so saying, for instance, one electron plus one positron equals zero is a bit misleading, because the annihilation conserves the total energy of the equation, it just converts it to another form, like, in this case, two photons I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much.
