dark matter and antimatter are both positive mass. where did you get the idea that both of these things had negative mass?

I never said dark matter has negative mass, TB said that

For antimatter.. I guess I don't know the difference in being literally-so-negative-it-deletes-matter, and having "negative mass". I guess negative mass is a silly concept like "there's existing, and not existing, but what if there was NEGATIVE existence???", which doesn't make any sense at all

I'm not the one who brought up that nonsensical concept though, negative matter still exists

I meant like, if up was moving forward through time and forward/backwards and left/right was 3d dimensions, you are going more horizontal the faster you go, until moving fully horizontal, and then superluminal you top being at plateau and dip downhill on up and down axis instead of like a hump

that could just as easily describe matter/antimatter annihilation

your model works fine for when relative time is a function of subjective time, but that stops being the case with matter that has non-positive mass

then i'm not certain what your meaning is

negative mass would mainly have implications on a particle's inertia and how it interacts with gravity. it's much less counterintuitive than the idea of negative existence. although nonetheless, antiparticles of particles with positive mass also have positive mass

in what i have seen "negative mass" and "negative matter" are used synchronously. if that is not how you are using it, what do you mean by "negative matter"?

Like adding a negative number to a positive number, pretty simple

To make things even more confusing in the negative mass, negative matter discussion, I guess tachyons don't have negative mass, they have negative mass squared, which means that have imaginary mass. According to google anyway. If they exist anyway, but still I guess that is how they work in the math equations they are used in or whatever. I wasn't sure if negative mass and imaginary mass were the same but I guess they are not

huh?? what positive number do you add the negative number to?

Antimatter cancels out "normal" matter

Adding -5 to 5

(But you could also say antimatter is just matter and what we know as matter is antimatter, I think)

A concept's fathomability is measured by how easy it is to visualize

I think you could use a better analogy. Existence is an idea, as opposed to being material, so of course it wouldn't make sense if you tried to apply a numerical value to it. It'd be like adding one to addition

D-prime is shrinking as we speak.

ok, i had just never heard of antimatter called "negative matter" before

It's just the most obvious go-to analogy, I don't know why anyone wouldn't

We all took 5th grade math right?

because usually negative matter means matter with negative mass. and because both antiparticles and their normal counterparts have positive energy, so saying, for instance, one electron plus one positron equals zero is a bit misleading, because the annihilation conserves the total energy of the equation, it just converts it to another form, like, in this case, two photons
