Hmmm, The place I'm looking to go for the backpacking is Charon's garden wilderness area. It's in the Wichita mountains wildlife refuge. I'm not sure what the stargazing is like there. I suppose it's better than any populated area. The stargazing is in Black Mesa State Park. It has designated stargazing campsites that are 2 miles out in the park and have lighting restrictions after dark. The advert boasts that they have some of the best stargazing in the country. TurboSimmie October 8 Share October 8 Oh I see! 😊 Living right between Philadelphia and New York I don't see many stars at night, as you might imagine. I can only imagine the kind of stargazing you get to do in rural Oklahoma! That entire part of the country is very mysterious to me because I've never been further west than eastern Tennessee. Someday I hope that will change. Phil has an aunt and uncle in west Texas and we intend to visit them within the next two years. But yeah, I think both of your ideas sound amazing and whichever you decide to do will be really awesome! I couldn't even tell you which I would want to do more. a937539 October 8 Share October 8 I live in a small town and my parents live a few miles out of town. You can see a lot of stars on clear nights. It's still dark when I leave for work in the morning and I usually take a minute to glance up at the sky. I think it's important to hold on to the perspective of how tiny you are. I can barely make out orion and pisces in the sky. It's better on camping trips, but I've never had the chance to see a full sky before.
