it's important to separate the everyday people from the government/militant groups, you guys both assumed a lot of talking points I didn't make

I DO think they would do the exact same things to Israel if their power were swapped, the cultures/religious beliefs in the middle east are screwed up and don't mind violence against opposing culture/beliefs at all

But that still has nothing to do with whether genocide, or just violence in the first place, is okay

 

I already said what we want is for all violence to stop because we think humans should be above harming each other, but that's very different from saying that either side is "the Good Guy"

of course, if two people are fighting and one is CLEARLY much stronger and possibly going to outright kill the other, you focus on stopping them the most, but in that sort of scenario the weaker one often still takes that opportunity to harm them more while they're immobilized, so it's still important to recognize the weaker one wasn't inherently "the Good Guy" (I mean, assuming you somehow knew that with two hypothetical people fighting, which you probably wouldn't, but)

 

anyways I can't confirm any of that stuff TB said, but considering the two places we've learned about that war the most are very pro-palestine (left-leaning subreddits, and Second Thought's youtube channel, which is actually thoroughly socialist/anti-capitalist as well for double the hot takes) I find it weird we'd have not

 

just the standard stuff, like bombing hospitals... (which only sometimes have strategic bunkers under them, the rest of the time is just a "oopsy haha we thought" excuse from Israel to do exactly what "bombing a hospital" sounds like)

 

 

tl;dr there's a necessary difference in "the side that needs help" and "the side that is The Good Guy", they aren't the same thing and if you treat them like they are there will be problems

 

not that the rest of the world can sort out the middle east's problems for them, but I do think forcing them not to fight would be the best thing we can do, but America doesn't because ~politics~

 

 

edit: I didn't mention anything about humanitarian aid because it should go without saying, you guys better not have assumed for a second we didn't believe anyone and everyone has a right to food, water and hospitals, "in addition" to not being directly harmed

we're up to (in learning Japanese) 36 radicals, 22 kanji, and 14 vocab so far

(officially anyway, we know probably five or six other kanji already, and we know probably double the "vocab"/readings we should, though any two-part vocabs like 九つ or 二人 we've exclusively learned from wanikani)

 

一人 is pretty funny, the kanji are normally "ichi" and "hito", but by chance they're "hito" and "ri" in this reading

not from any special rule where you swap them, they just happened to make "hito" one of 一's many readings

(and this is a really common one because it means one person/alone)

don't be surprised if a cornered animal fights back. also something something cycle of violence. as someone that is generally pro palestine, I very much so don't like that poeple are using that as an excuse to be openly antisemetic.

I took virtually no photos of myself. that photo was by my mum when i got home lol. my boots (ice skates w/o blades) were already untied. I did take some polaroid photos though (or rather had a friend take them with my camera) (sun 660 btw)--
