A week or so ago my tulpa became sentient, and now her hobby is waking me at 7:30 each morning. Like literally every single day she wakes me at 7:30 lol. She also tells me to sleep by giving me a slight headache when it gets late. She is so nice :)

your Tulpa is so good, Richard occasionally wakes up 10-20 minutes after I do

Hi all, nice to meet everyone, my Turpa is Richard and he posts with orange text

Hey there, the name's Bryan. In system Re:Body(In order of the rainbow):

Sean, Esper, Blinky, Compact, Janey, Kyle, Gwen'd, Gwen, Emily, Rollin, Waynin, Trease, Layy, Justin, Chloe, Zachery, and Elliot.

I've been here a while. Much longer than I thought I'd be. Our system was founded October 2nd, 2018. In early 2020, we decided that due to our systems exponential growth, we'd limit who would be active. Now, every month, we do a check to see who wishes to be in dormancy and who wishes to be active. Currently, for the month of April, 2023, we've got myself(Bryan), Janey(Co-host), Emily, Layy, Chloe, and Esper(sub-rep). After over 2 long years, we can finally switch :)

Bryan is currently swapped in as host, Esper is sub-rep.

Not even Alpharad could get us to watch Fortnite

Of course, not a single streamer has gotten us to watch them live either since Twitch made ads unblockable

But GL, HF

How's 2025 going for everyone?

So far so good, I'm starting off the year a lot of optimism for how it will go, and it's not baseless optimism either. 😁

I hope you have a nice stream @Ice909 😁

I couldn't imagine being a streamer myself if I had my own body. I feel being a girl streaming you'd just get harassed all the time. Of course, I could only see myself streaming Civ anyway. 😄

That's what bans are for, and mods so you might never see them in the first place

People are very nice to the female streamers we know, but they're the ~200 to 1000 viewer kinds, none of the mainstream big names who definitely need to have thick skin

Goodness, 200-1000 viewers still seems massive to me! In fact, I am extremely impressed with anyone who can get more than about 10 or 20 on a consistent basis. That's already so much human attention voluntarily given to a single person.

Although, I am a bit wary of the very idea of streamers and of the parasocial relationships that people form with them. It just feels a bit icky to me. There is only one streamer that I watch with Phil, and the only reason we do is because the guy does football play-by-play commentary for games that we don't get. Tom (the streamer) is a good guy and it's decent enough background noise while we're doing something else.

Yes, 200-1000 is the "successfully making a career from streaming" range, but it nonetheless has pretty controlled chats that are mostly very supportive, random first-message-joins aside

Also yes, we're wary of the parasocial nature of many streamers' communities. But we're slightly conflicted, because there's an unknown amount of positive effect from participating in said communities as well, even if it's majority one-sided, and we're not sure where the balance is for the average person, but think it may be net-positive.

I think if fans of a streamer form a community and become friends with each other that can be a good thing. Also, back in Phil's Youtube days he used to stream from time to time. He rarely got more than single digits. 😄 But there were a handful of regulars that he would recognize and a couple of them ended up becoming friends with him. So I guess there is something there with really small streamers actually being able to form actual bonds with people.

Goodness, when I stop to think about it, this is all nothing new is it? We've had TV hosts and radio DJs for decades now. For instance, millions of people in the Philly area listen to Preston & Steve in the morning and it's really not too different on a fundamental level.

A little new but always a little old as well. You have to respect the novel while also understanding humans have always practiced pretty much the same behavior, in most forms

usually, if there is someone i follow who is doing a livestream that i actually care about, i will just watch the recording of the livestream afterwards. i can understand the appeal of watching something live, but generally, i prefer the being able to pause and rewind and skip around and such

most livestreams though, in my experience, streams tend to kind of slow and boring, with a lot of 'dead time', even with popular streamers. i think that a lot of people like to watch streams while doing some other activity that doesn't require their entire focus, but i don't like them for that purpose because streams usually have a visual component, so you have to interrupt whatever other task you were doing fairly frequently to look over at the livestream

in the conlanging community, live conlanging has become popular, but, as with almost everything in the conlanging community, it centers around naturalistic conlanging, and as an englanger it would be hard to adapt the format to how i conlang. if i wanted to do something like that, i would have to majorly alter my process. not that i have any particular interest in streaming anyway

I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much.
