Hey there, the name's Bryan. In system Re:Body(In order of the rainbow):

Sean, Esper, Blinky, Compact, Janey, Kyle, Gwen'd, Gwen, Emily, Rollin, Waynin, Trease, Layy, Justin, Chloe, Zachery, and Elliot.

I've been here a while. Much longer than I thought I'd be. Our system was founded October 2nd, 2018. In early 2020, we decided that due to our systems exponential growth, we'd limit who would be active. Now, every month, we do a check to see who wishes to be in dormancy and who wishes to be active. Currently, for the month of April, 2023, we've got myself(Bryan), Janey(Co-host), Emily, Layy, Chloe, and Esper(sub-rep). After over 2 long years, we can finally switch :)

Bryan is currently swapped in as host, Esper is sub-rep.

further on that, would san andreas be appropriation of gang life in los angeles? or vice city appropriation of mafia life? not retorical questions, i am wondering if they actually are. way more people know what the hood is like from those games probably than from like, living in the hoods themselves i'd imagine, so a bunch of people might envision it wrong (though i think actual gang members were consulted when making those games and they changed the dialogue for them because the dialogue rockstar originally made, they said is not how gangsters actually talk lol)

rockstar was about to be sum straight bustas

Bre is romanticization a form of appropriation

D-prime is shrinking as we speak.

not all inaccurate depictions of something are cultural appropriation. naruto can't appropriate ninjas, because naruto and ninjas both come from the same culture. furthermore, japan is already an imperialist culture that massively exports their ideas, so japanese culture isn't in danger of erasure anyway

it's not wrong to enjoy media that has problematic elements, like cultural appropriation, but you should be mindful of the problems that it has and be careful not to replicate them yourself

i would say tulpamancy is not cultural appropriation at least in the context of potentially erasing tibetan conception of buddhism, because it isn't like tibetans go around trying to spread the ideas of tulpas lol. as far as i understand, tulpamancy in that context is a pretty taboo and secret practice that they aren't going to tell most people about, let alone teach them how to do it. you'd have to become a monk, and then have a teacher decide it would be best to teach you about tulpas because they determined for you in particular that path to enlightenment is best. i don't think what people do on the internet is going to change what goes on in tibetan tulpa practices unless we flood the tibetan temples and start enforcing changes to their practice beliefs

from my understanding, tibentan buddhism doesn't really have anything directly analogous to the concept of a tulpa at all. it was invented by alexandra david-neel who conflated the concept of a sprul-pa with that of a tulku, and combined it with her understanding of the theosophist concept of a thought form. as far as i know, 'tulpa' is not a word that has ever been a part of tibetan buddhism, and the modern concept of a tulpa only bears at most vague similarities to the concept of a sprul-pa

I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much.

We need more people who can acknowledge these things but still be able to enjoy them. Too much of it is caught in this ethical no man’s land. If your point is to just be aware of it, I totally agree with you

well, i don't really know enough about gta or gang culture in los angeles, but if they consulted actual gangsters than it sounds like they were making an effort to reach a reasonable approximation of authenticity, so it's probably fine

yeah, pretty much, although at the same time, i think it is reasonable that for some people, some problems cannot be overlooked and it does legitimately make them unable to enjoy it
