Like full on factions and partnerships and wars and stuff chicago gang scene would have showed up in my childhood through media in the form of the driver games, but i sucked so bad at them i couldn't see much of it as i couldn't beat any missions lol. that was my first time seeing a sawed off shotgun and wondering why are they randomly illegal. i thought they did more damage or something but it is because you can hide them in trench coats most of what i know about gangs come from gta games and N.W.A. music. i don't know what all of nwa is true to gang life (i'm sure some has to be extremely exaggerated like the song "sorry louie" lol or gang members are like like ed gein levels of horrifying), but people say modern rappers are rappers that are wannabe gangsters but NWA were gangsters that were wannabe rappers. i don't listen to much rap because it often has lyrics i hate especially modern ones but nwa i like a lot (and also dislike a lot it depends a lot i'm very picky) hmmm, i think my favorite nwa song might be "no more ?'s" and it is basically eazy e being interviewed about what it is like to be a gangster lol content of gta san andreas does resemble lyrics of nwa a lot. some of the characters even look modeled after nwa members. vice city i think you are a part of an italian mob and just got out of prison so immediately go back to crime instantly as one does lol. but you lost your mob boss's drugs/money because you hosted a failed trade that was a set up so you got robbed of everything and the story of the whole game is your mob boss is angry and you have to have his money before he comes to vice city or he's probably gonna murder you, so you go around trying to find crime jobs to make the money back and it just escalates from you being a small henchmen guy to eventually running the entire city and having millions of dollars, so by the end you just betray them i think cuz you don't need them anymore san andreas is about you returning home to los santos from liberty city for your mom's funeral because she was shot in a drive by shooting. think your character went to liberty city because they didn't want to live in gang life but now you have to be there with your friends and family. they see you as having abandoned them so they don't respect you, so you do things that build respect back with your hood. as the game goes on, you find out all your friends are actually sellouts and hypocrites, except your brother who you save, and you defeat a corrupt cop that has it out for you for no reason. one of the first things that happens in the game is that cop pulls you over and just takes all of your money savings away in civil asset forfeiture saying it was drug money when it was not lol i remember more details about san andreas because i think it was more memorable and wholesome compared to vice city, it also was just a bigger game with way more content so me and my friends played it more. it also has a lot of comic relief. there is a lot of sad moments or surprising moments or dark moments but most of it is silly to some extent or another and not taking itself seriously all the time. you make a hippy friend at some point and he gets paranoid the government is going to arrest him for his massive weed farm so you have to take a flame thrower and help him burn down his own farm lol, which i think results in you getting massively high and then you are driving basically his janky mystery machine looking vehicle to get out of there. another kind of wholesome thing is there's a young kind of dumb guy that's like a family friend and wants really bad to be a hard core gangster but in reality he's a soft person so everyone tries to keep him out of danger and out of that life. my memories are vague though so my memories might not be exact most of my san andreas memories consist of trying to find myths with my friend cuz we thought based on youtube videos there were secrets in the game like big foot or jason vorhees or alien spacecrafts, so we searched relentlessly for these things. some of them are real, like mysterious ran down cars in the woods sometimes at the top of hills and if you walk below them they start rolling down the hill for no reason and possibly run you over i think GTA V actually added actual ufos and stuff because i guess they became self aware of the mythological brain worms that infested the community about san andreas lol. maybe at that time it was just the biggest open world game with a lot of creepy and variable environemnts, so it opened peoples imaginations Creation for creation's sake. we draw things Resident Dojikko
