i guess that is the case for more sane gang members trying to survive and stay protected, but the control part i guess is a pitfall some fall into, which also goes into the san andreas story

Yeah, but you can probably see how they’d come around if they lived in an area so opportunistically barren that they have nothing better to do

i hear that a lot. sometimes peer pressure and sometimes people join gangs for protection or they join gangs because it is a much better economic opportunity than trying and failing to find some minimum wage job

 

if nwa is to be trusted it's a great economic opportunity lol one of lyrics to their songs is "at 13 i bought a 64 impala" if you can buy a car at 13 you're doing pretty good

 

also i forget how old i am. i assume nwa rappers in the prime or gta san andreas characters etc are older than me but i forget these people started as teenagers. NWA formed when they were still in highschool i think

things can be opportunistically barren in a socioeconomic sense (hence why you would start a gang to make money illegally), but i've never heard of somewhere being barren socially such that it is impossible to make friends ordinarily, but it becomes possible once you decide that you want to extort and kill people

people can join gangs for all sorts of reasons, but you don't form a gang unless you are seeking to make money. a gang is a business. if you didn't care about money, you would start a charity, or just a club
