AKSHUALLY this is a DBS (dragon ball super) character, not a dragon ball z character. but yeah, they are both the same intellectual property/franchise and for some reason, dragon ball z was aired in the united states before dragon ball was, so when people think of this franchise in the west, many think dragon ball z instead of just thinking dragon ball in general which would apply to all of it

 

if you're a nerd and want to be pendantic i guess, Z just refers specifically to the anime portion of the story the runs from raditz all the way to the end of majin buu, which ended in 1996.

 

jiren is from continuation of z called super, which started i think about 2014 and ended in 2018

 

but yeah don't mind me just saiyan☝️🤓

Thanks for clarifying, I was vaguely aware that DBZ was only part of Dragon Ball in some way and not the whole thing, but didn't understand the exact relationship.

DBZ is what's relevant to what people are talking about 90% of the time (unfortunately! even Super doesn't get treated well, I guess rose-tinted glasses), so it's usually safe to refer to the universe as DBZ, but yeah, DB -> DBZ -> Dragon Ball GT, retconned -> DB Super

 

And hi I just watched a streamer play all of Wario Land 4 so I didn't have time to catch up on all those posts until now
