I would consider myself an ameture writer and artist. My life is very visual, so it comes as no surprise that I had three major tulpas. There are many others, but too many to properly name and nurture.
The main ones are Kiera, the shadow, and Jason. They each have a backstory:
Kiera is a proud woman and skilled leader. She originated from a story where she is a queen and shapeshifter with the ability to morph into a dragon. The dragon part of her is difficult to control and temperamental.
The shadow is a man with a wild grin. He is also a shapeshifter but one with unlimited power. Since he is of the shadows, he very much in tune with my fears and will play on them during stressful times.
Jason is technically Kiera's brother, originating from the same story. He is reserved and can be vengeful when injustice occurs. He has never turned on me, instead defending me from the shadow's torment. He is a sort of safe guard.
The others are based on superheroes, emotions, and villains. My favorite is Batman who recently discovered his own existence as a tulpa (before me, I'd like to point out). He is a strong voice of reason that comes mostly when I meditate.
I draw my tulpas out through meditation and request their help in discovering personal baggage and emotional scars. Even the shadow is helpful in his own way.

  1. I don't have lucid dreams, but I can think and interact within my dreams. Most of the time I'm along for the ride. However, even in those moments I choose to let things flow how they want. (I really enjoy the crazy plots dreams can have.) In dreams, it appears that I normally take third person so that I'm seeing my reactions. I basically become another character in the dream. When I take control in the dream, it all switches to first person. When I daydream and walk in my wonderlands, I am usually in first person. This changes when I'm entering the wonderland, mostly to be sure I arrive completely and don't have a muttled existence. My tulpa is completely sentient and her form is complete, but my ability to impose is lacking which means I cannot see her vividly. She is very much alike and unique. Her wonderland is one that we created together as her personality was coming together. We together made a backstory along with a full universe that includes her primary wonderland (I have made several). It is filled with other tulpas that she interacts with and creates herself. At this point she has a husband and daughter that she actually gave birth to. The rest is a bit complicated, but that wonderland has faded since she died in that timeline. I created another wonderland later that any sentient being can change with some mental energy. Many of the tulpas we make end up living there, immortal and free to do as they please. As for her creation, she had always been an entity, I just decided to get to know it more. She seems to have created her own form, personality, and name in a subconscious way. I cannot take full credit for much of her creation.
  2. This environmental hallucination things sounds really cool. I'm terrible at imposing, but I've walked around my mind while my body was paralyzed. I find it fun to make worlds and stuff to. If you want me to try something, I'm game. To the origanal post concerning the blank slate tulpa forcing: what if you set a certain time everyday where you sat down and actively created a tulpa? Tried to put a form together in front of you, taught it about the world, introduced it to good and bad, allowed it to move around with you, and overall introduced it to reality? It would be very similar to an imaginary friend, but with a mind of its own. After a certain point, you would be able to keep it around 24/7. I think it's a worthwhile test run. Log how many hours it takes, the advances in the tulpa, and major events day to day. After a while, we should be able to pin some things down, right? - The Author
  3. What you are talking about is a strategy I have for creation works of literature. Every story I create is actually a vision from what I call a mind walk. It's where I meditate into a blank space then think of a character. The character usually appears within my mind and their world appears around them. It's a lot like multiverse travel. At first I just watch and sometimes write a catalogue what I see, but then I move to interact with the character, introducing myself and getting to know them. In some aspects I become a tulpa (which is incredibly useful as a writer). If I take enough of a liking, I will also invite them into my own universe that I created with Kiera's help. They can visit the place in their dreams, and we've set it up so that it changes and bends to mental willpower. You talk about tulpas being sentient beings, and I truly believe in that, but I think I goes farther. Your mind may have the potential to bend space and access information from other time lines. The Wicca has this belief as well, with many of them possessing powers of spacial interpretation like seeing the past and enhanced observation of thier surroundings. - The Author
  4. Host: hmm.... This is interesting. I've done it plenty of times before, but comparing is pretty neat. I think I'll let each of them write a short story, two paragraphs. That should suffice. Me first though. ... There once was a man and a woman, both of whom were quite happy living in a deep wood. There they worked, hunting, harvesting from the brush, and relieving from the forest their nessecities.
  5. There is a lot concerning the extent of Tulpa powers, but let's get down to the core. How has your tulpa(s) effected you? Can you sense when your tulpa(s) are angry or happy or sad? Is it weak or strong? Can a tulpa's emotions effect yours unintentionally (without them trying/accidentally)? Do you find that having a tulpa distracts from daily life? Do they pull you from work, school, or friends? These questions are based on my own experiences. I'm just wondering how much power a tulpa has over its host without realizing it. I also request that the host answers before the tulpa(s). They're opinion is important, but for this I'm focusing on the host aspect. - The Author
  6. Ha! Freaking weakling didn't have to do any of that! I did all that! She couldn't even say no! Pfft. Imposition, I put myself where I want to. :) ------- Ignore the creep from before. That's the shadow. He is kind of a demon, at least we see him that way. I'm Kiera, "The Author's" first tulpa. My host is very visual and much of her world is in her head. That's why she didn't recognize us till later. She saw us in her head speaking, then over time we learned to impose ourselves by watching her impose scenes onto her surroundings. She didn't do anything we did. Actually, the others learned from me. As I say this, my host is typing it out. I have not taken control. She won't let me. I'm able to use her subconscious as she pleases, but using her body is out of the question. People become scared when that happens. They don't understand. ----- I'm Jason, and I don't know why I have to say anything but whatever. I don't impose on anything. She doesn't need me to and it's a waste of time. If she wants me around, the that's cool. Mostly, I help her write male roles. .... What? That's it. I help out cause she needs me. Not like I have anything better to do. ------ Gah. Looking at these perspectives, you'd like I had multiple personality disorder. Anyway, as they said they did a lot of the work. I didn't try to make a tulpa and they actually make life pretty difficult. They become a distraction at times, and can give me terrible advice. When it comes to imposition, I did a lot of that when I was little and later when I started writing. I use it to impose characters and worlds and watch a scene play though. It's a lot like watching a movie in 3D. Kiera was the first to impose herself. She did it to comfort me and look me in the eyes when she lectured me. The shadow was second, becoming a looming shadow and taking Kiera's form to trick me. Jason was last, using imposition to come to me and give me a hug. He actually appeared as an angel the first time to gain my trust. I really didn't try to do anything. They did it, not me. - The Author
  7. I never considered my tulpa to be anything but another part of myself. She is a lot like me and is very similar. When I first met her though, she was terrifying, a shadowy figure that spoke in a whispery voice. It was only when I was older (about 12) when I confronted her to found out what she wanted. It seems the more I conversed with her the more she settled into a form and became a companion. I never had an imaginary friend, but my tulpa has been there for a long time, growing with me. There are times when I almost forget her and she returns to chew me out. She is a very real personality, but I also control her quite a bit, as you would an imaginary friend. There are times when I can push her out of my reality and other times I can see her in front of me and openly converse with her, hearing her speak back. I never really had imaginary friends either. I liked playing with toys and pretending to be in magical worlds instead. I surrounded myself in my imagination. I never called imaginary things into my reality. - The Author

    Mind Control

Hi, I'm new to this idea, but not tulpas. I've been a host for tulpas for years without realizing it. I actually thought they were alternate personalities that were technically me. It was only this morning that I learned of tulpas and realized that's what I was dealing with. Funny enough, this mind control thing became a major issue for me. I have three major tulpas that I host and one of them is rather dark and a bit demonic. He likes to taunt me and point out really sexual things that I won't mention here. The big thing he likes to do is abuse me. He used to take control enough to make me do things to myself, so if you have a tulpa and want to mess with mind control and switching I advise caution. Tulpas like to interact it seems. If I have all three talking at the same time, I actual feel equal in power to them. I may be the host, but they have power to control the situation too. Be sure to keep them in check. Nurture and grow them, yes, but remind yourself and them that you are in control and are the host. If you hand power to them, it can have Major side effects. Be careful. - The Author
