MadMax May 17, 2023 May 17, 2023 So, our latest addition to our system, Kimiko, had become active maybe only 2 months ago. But threw roleplaying with other humans I line, her character has been coming threw very nicely. But now, I'm in a curious situation. Kimiko came a year after our first 3 tulpas became active. That gave us time to adjust to the concept of tulpamancy culture and practices. But now only 2 months after Kimiko came to us, I feel we might have another 'out-of-the-blue' tulpa forming, or atleast making her presence known. She started off as a side character in a roleplay, but has been hounding my thoughts ever since. I'm not sure if she Is just a very energetic character in the story, a servitor, or a baby (baby being relative) tulpa. At this rate, I'm afraid of how frequently a system can generate new surprise tulpas. And I know they aren't truly "popping up out of nowhere", they have been a thought, or a passing curiosity, that has been floating around in my subconscious all this time and finally with my currently very active imagination, are starting to find their voice. Char: my first tulpa, has joke that she has a vault with a multitude o tulpas in cryo storage, just waiting for a random thought to awaken them. Weather that is true or not I don't know. She likes to play games like that on me. But this has only been a year into our tulpamancy and we already have 4+ sentient head mates, and a multitude of servitors. What do you all think? Is our system growing too quickly? What's is your rate of tulpa creation? Is there anyone expierencing the same type of growth in headmate population? Etna May 17, 2023 May 17, 2023 I once asked another tulpamancer similar question when another character I was writing/thinking about a lot replied in mindvoice to something I was thinking with regards to her and I freaked out a little. Like, "I wasn't planning on having another one?! Does this mean I have two now?!" but was told that sometimes random thoughts are just random thoughts. Just because that character happened to reply, it didn't mean that I suddenly had a second Tulpa. It was pretty much only an intrusive thought, kind of thing, and to treat it as such unless I wanted to develop her further and turn her into a second Tulpa. Which I didn't. And I haven't heard from her since. Doc (she/her) = Host Franklyn (he/him) = Tulpa
TurboSimmie May 18, 2023 May 18, 2023 I have seen this kind of thing happen before with different tulpamancers. It seems to happen mostly with younger 'mancers, but no reason it can't happen to anyone of any age. But I think you (and anyone else in a similar situation) should really be careful about "letting" your system grow too quickly. Similar to you, Phil also writes and roleplays and if he had a different mindset about things, there could have been literally dozens of characters who could have become some form of tulpa. But we have a very strict definition of what a tulpa is, and to us a tulpa is something that is very deliberate and intentional. I am very territorial about this brain and will not let another tulpa form besides my son. So, I guess what I'm saying is, you may have characters that seem to have the spark of life about them, and they may speak in their own voice, but that does not make them tulpas by default. So be very careful about what you consider a tulpa and always make your system size/composition be a conscious and deliberate choice. MadMax May 18, 2023 Author May 18, 2023 (edited) @TurboSimmie@Etna Thank you both for your suggestions. We appreciate it. I see how intrusive thoughts lead me to tulpamancy in the beginning, which lead to Char, who in turn lead to Joc, Precious and Kimiko. now, Ruby, has been making herself known for the last 2 days. I also understand how just making a well fleshed out character doesn't guarentee a Tulpa, no matter how convincing the internal talk might be. but if you concentrate on it enough, and allow it to persist, it can be if you will it. I have hundreds of NPC's or "servitors" in our wonderland, but Ruby is the first one to actually persist in a very strong personality.
