MaybeMinthe July 3, 2023 Share July 3, 2023 (edited) My close friend has four tulpas, Blaire, Riley, Cyber and Peppermint. Their relationships are perfectly normal. However, my friend is constantly visualizing the wonderland. They have started to physically impose things from it unintentionally, like the cold of snow or a headache etc. What's weirder is that their tulpas can feel genuine pain in WL, and they *cannot* speak to their tulpas at ALL if they aren't visualizing them. They have to be standing next to them to "hear" them- they even have to imagine running up to them when trying to get their attention. It makes it harder for them to function sometimes, and it didn't start this way. And they now see "double," constantly seeing both real life and the WL at once. Not physically, but mentally. And it hurts to stop visualization. They stopped visualizing for a moment and it was extremely difficult and frightening, and no matter what they couldn't break through to their tulpas. Is this worrying? Edited July 3, 2023 by MaybeMinthe A
TurboSimmie July 3, 2023 Share July 3, 2023 That sounds less like healthy wonderland activity and more like actual hallucinations! Does your friend have schizophrenia or another mental disorder which could cause such things? I'm really not qualified to give medical advice, but I would suggest that you help your friend stay grounded; ask them to point out things they can see, hear, smell, etc in the real world. MaybeMinthe July 3, 2023 Author Share July 3, 2023 (edited) No, they aren't hallucinating anything. They just constantly visualize the wonderland. They have experienced traumatic things in the past and I worry about that. (Also, off topic- but you and Phil had a baby!? congrats!!) TurboSimmie July 3, 2023 Share July 3, 2023 Yes we did, and thank you! 😊 But you really had me worried there for a second that your friend was going through some kind of legit medical condition. But now it sounds like it's more like your friend has an overactive imagination that is interfering with their ability to live their life, does that sound accurate? TurboSimmie July 3, 2023 Share July 3, 2023 Helping them to be grounded in reality is still a pretty good idea, even if it's not literal hallucinations.
