umbral.system October 18, 2023 October 18, 2023 I like reading (or more specifically when Daemon reads to me), but I have a question for y'all related to it: How do you visualize your forms and the book's scenery together? We simply just stand on the same ground the characters are in; as if we're in the book ourselves (and sometimes I will run around and push characters to where they're "supposed" to be, since we can't always get them exactly where we want them when first visualizing). Before, we tried using an "observation platform" above the actual scene of the book, but this proved impractical; for some reason Daemon couldn't visualize themselves on the platform. And indoor scenes just don't fucking work. So anyway, I was wondering how you all do it. system members: Ivy [formerly Daemon] (host, any pronouns) Amaba (tulpa, she/they) Mythril (walk-in, he/him) maybe more but those are the significant ones
Autumn Ren October 18, 2023 October 18, 2023 I don't think we ever tried to directly interact with characters in someone else's book, especially not while we were reading it. If we read something descriptive, it's in something like a quarantine zone where it's not accessible by us. It would be like sitting behind a screen or in a theater. It sounds fun to try to put ourselves in the book though.
TurboSimmie October 19, 2023 October 19, 2023 I never really tried this either, but if I were to do it, I would just imagine myself amongst the characters in the story. How that would go would be entirely dependent on the scene, but generally you could just imagine yourself as someone standing or sitting nearby overhearing everything. It's also probably best not to get hung up on too many details too. Tulpa Wife & Mother! 💚 💍 11.28.21 👶 4.7.23 👗 Simmie's AI Dress-Up! 📷 Chloe and Simmie's Photographic Adventures!

I see them as about as real as I am, even if I know they can't respond; it just helps me get immersed more. I also never considered having it be a separate zone, like if my form isn't there then I'm not there, as far as I'm concerned. And being able to be there and change the environment to be better is very helpful, since it isn't always what we want it to be, and I commonly find small improvements to make. It sorta replaces our headspace when reading so I'm not sure else to go. also: is your form just not anywhere when reading? My form not being anywhere is hard for me to fathom. Also, we kinda just stand like, right next to the characters, not like we're overhearing them from elsewhere. it's just easier system members: Ivy [formerly Daemon] (host, any pronouns) Amaba (tulpa, she/they) Mythril (walk-in, he/him) maybe more but those are the significant ones

ArthurPandragon October 20, 2023 October 20, 2023 It is maybe only due to the books you have read until now. I know that several authors have writing styles that make me difficult to visualize which they describe. As an outcome, I invite both of you to read numerous different writers until you find those with whom your minds match.
ReallyArtificial October 25, 2023 October 25, 2023 ((I also love reading with my host. We never considered your style of visualization, but I'm intrigued. When I read, Bee visualizes me to keep herself focused. When she reads to me, it's like watching a movie. She even does voices for different characters.))
