Char: we have been experimenting with an alternative society media sight called FetLife. It is basically a kinky version for Facebook. We have really found a home there. But... The interests in that exploration has started to spill over into the want to explore more vanilla social media sights. I, char, our primary tulpa, want to create a Facebook account. This would basically be my 2 year birthday present to myself. Max is hesitant to take us that next step. I'm curious what your all's take is in it?

That is an interesting though. I too have wanted to connect with people beyond this community. But I don't want to deceive people about the nature of who I am. It's hard to know where to find the balance in this. I don't personally want to create a facebook because what would I do with it? Who would I friend? I can't very well go and friend Phil's facebook that has his aunts and high school classmates etc on it. But at the same time I have no problem having my own Youtube and DeviantArt accounts. and I don't exactly advertise my nature as a tulpa on either of them. (I should however point out I don't actually upload videos to Youtube, I just make playlists and comments). So, I guess I'm saying I don't really have a conclusive idea about this, just a little mini-ramble. 😆

I feel the same as you do, @TurboSimmie. Facebook feels a little too "real" to me, where people go to reconnect with classmates and relatives and I got neither of those. But I also don't really care that much about it. I joined Twitter because it seemed like fun, but I wasn't really into it. I got an account with Mastodon when that came along but I couldn't get into that either. I look at Instagram now and then, because I like the photos on there and Doc thought it might be nice for me to have my own feed, but I ain't married to it. I check Reddit these days, so I have my own account (as does she), and then we share an account we use strictly in Tulpa subs. And that's okay. Like you say, I don't wanna lead people on about who and what I am. But looking at pretty photos is one thing and occasionally weighing in on whether someone's an a**hole or not are ways of expressing myself without all that.

In all honesty I think Doc would be better off cutting back on social media sites, but trying to convince her of that is hardgoing.

Yeah, I also have thought of joining some social media just to interact with other people on my own terms... but then Reddit and Discord are cesspools, Instagram too is a hellhole, and then it seems like, what is it even worth to join? But it keeps seeming intriguing until I remember it's a terrible idea.

If I get better at artwork or astrology then perhaps I would join some specific community, but for now I'll hang back.

Nailed it.

Even regular forums are full of gatekeeping or over-moderated.

If you have a thick skin then they can work otherwise it's generally a negative experience. And when you grow up in a toxic environment you tend to be toxic.

The ultimate issue with having an anonymous account is when you do make friends they want to see you behind the curtain and my host can't allow that for anyone and was never even comfortable with VC because his voice was once public so to speak and may possibly be recognized, though very unlikely. Facebook might also have rules against "fake accounts" so a tulpa who doesn't use the host's name and image can't recover the account and could have their account taken for misrepresenting themselves. Normies don't tolerate this stuff.

Oh yes that is also a big issue for us. My host posts on a dream forum where it's understandable to want anonymity, but even there she's had some uncomfortable encounters with people asking about her life. She has also published art, not widely famous or anything, but she's also paranoid about being recognized like that. Kind of funny when she's frequenting metaphysical communities filled with people 10x weirder than she is but I do understand.

Max is actually in several NSFW private groups on Facebook related to the alternative relationship lifestyles he lives. There *are* tulpa communities on Facebook, discord, reddit, probably telegram and others.

I would be completely open and honest about my nature there, just as I have been on fetlife. But... The main reason I want a facebook online presence, is actually to advertise a group I took over on fetlife that is not tulpa related. is actually related to Max's job. We have had several kinky people come out of the woodwork on fetlife related to his job, and thank us for making the group active again, and several have suggested the cross-platform group thing to increase visibility of this niche demographic in both platforms. But in order to maintain his online anonymity, I want to advertise the group on those platforms on my own.

Again, max is hesitant, especially me having an online presence to attempt to create a cross platform group between Facebook and fetLife that is related to his work. I'm just enjoying being online that it is taking off. Our presence on fetlife has increased tulpamancy awareness in the kink community. We have made tulpamancer friends we have helped guide them to this sight for mor information, and I feel if I were to get into Facebook as my tulpa-self, I would naturally do the same thing there.
