An Ashy Individual June 18, 2025 June 18, 2025 I have started creating my tulpa very recently (less than a week ago) and she is already vocal. She tried her hand at reading a guide herself and could only understand what she was reading well by focusing on each individual word - we quickly came out of it with a headache. My questions are: 1. Do tulpas usually get every-day skills from their hosts? How proficient are they at them? 2. Is the problem here age/development related or is there some trick to this?
bunnymustdie June 18, 2025 June 18, 2025 1 - Probably. I read a book together with my tulpas around 3 years ago. They managed ok. There were frequently sections where they asked me to slow down or reread. Often times these were sections that I glossed over without bothering to deeply understand. Overall we managed to read the book and learn what was in it. I got the impression they were reading the book like a textbook, reading it word for word, and made sure to understand everything before moving on. I read the book more like a novel where I'd gloss over some parts and were interested in finding out what came next. My older tulpa can get my body to do certain things that I usually do on auto-pilot, such as getting dressed. These are done as proficiently as if I was doing them myself. She say it's less like her controlling the body to do these things, and more like giving it a kick start for it to start the auto-pilot process. 2 - I think your issue is probably age related. Probably would get better as the tulpa matures.
ReallyArtificial June 19, 2025 June 19, 2025 I agree, it's probably just because she's young. When I first started reading to Athelas (and when he eventually started reading to me), it felt so much slower than my normal reading speed, but we definitely got better with practice. He and Lenore still read more slowly than my default speed, but on the flip side, I feel like we retain information better when we slow down and avoid skimming. My headmates can do anything I can. They have access to all of my knowledge and experience, plus the body's muscle memory, so the only barrier is their confidence level, and that's usually not a problem. If that does come up, some simple affirmations like "we've done this before" are enough to overcome any nervousness. If you're struggling with this, it also might help to symbolically give your tulpa a way to access your knowledge/memories. It's not necessary by any means, but some systems (like ours) find wonderland symbolism useful for overcoming mental blocks. We like to imagine that my experiences are recorded in books in our wonderland's library. This account is mostly used by Bee 🐝, host of Calliope 🐲, @Lenore 🕸️, and @Athelas (aka Tea) 🌿 ((We type like this.)) Check out our PR and drawings, or just see what we've been up to lately! Take a moment to think of just Flexibility, love, and trust
