HackofAllTrades April 18, 2013 April 18, 2013 I've decided to go back and reinforce personality, since that's not something I spent a whole lot of time on, something I regret quite a bit. Its resulted in a chaotic personality that couldn't make up her mind. She clearly lacked a base of anything to create her reactions from, and the end results were responses that I could never be entirely sure they were even thought out by a coherent being, and those that were somewhat normal, often contradicted with previous ones. TL;DR, Its best I take a step back and recreate the personality from the ground up, taking into account the traits I know exist and building upon it with the desired traits I intended to have, but never manifested correctly. It seems like one of the best way to get to know a personality is to write scenarios for it (as opposed to direct conversation, since vocal responses are too rare), getting inside of the personality and imagining what each reaction would be in depth, what everything means to it, how it conflicts with its values and held beliefs, etc. So, any good scenarios to explore that would best identify a personality best- as a whole and in depth for specific traits?

HackofAllTrades April 18, 2013 Author April 18, 2013 Its not that simple, really. The reason I'm going back in the first place, is that I realized that her personality was nearly nonexistent, at least as far as traits that are involved in any coherent decision making. If I ask questions, lately responses have been limited to affirmatives to my opinion on things, small things that don't mean a whole lot. Generally I don't ever receive answers to my questions. Answers that I do get are usually so incoherent and conflicted, I don't know what to make of them. Hence why I'm going back to create a personality to form a base for decisions.
waffles April 18, 2013 April 18, 2013 The responses that you describe are fairly typical of early sentience. Sticking to yes/no questions yields results because they're easy to communicate: two possible answers, both of which you know - you expect a 'yes' or a 'no' and can match answers to that, if you see what I mean. Anyway, it can be initially difficult to convey a unique sentiment, because it's not known to the host when they're listening. Hearing what amounts to nonsense, contradictory responses, these are all pretty normal for where you are. I wouldn't recommend going back and doing personality again just yet; give it some time, and these issues may well clear with time and forcing.
HackofAllTrades April 18, 2013 Author April 18, 2013 The problem really lies with what I've come to understand as intrusive thoughts, things that are of neither conscious that seem to be pure randomness. The reason I differentiate this from her thoughts is that even responses that pull from these images and thoughts to express an image, feel clearly (most of the time) like they originate from her. Only problem is this happens rarely and is never a direct answer to a question. Other times its like the subconscious is just throwing random junk and seeing what will stick on my mind. Intrusive thoughts like these have always existed, even before I had a tulpa so its not a new thing, but now sometimes they crowd out her responses by taking the forefront of my attention when I look for a response. Going back and reinforcing personality is a way for me to help her out, give her ideas about how to react; not to try and fit her into a mold that is not her and never will be. Still, I appreciate the advice waffles. I'll give it some time before I go back and strictly force personality. I have no qualms with time; things like this ought not to be rushed.
