Character I've had for the last five years becoming a Tulpa?

Hi there people and Tulpae, I'm new here and I asked something during my introduction and was told that it would be a better idea to ask it here instead:

 

I'm... Not exactly sure if I've been accidentally making a Tulpa the last five years. I have a character I made in 2011 and she's been someone who I always think about and I've felt like I've grown a great bond with her. In work when I'm feeling stressed out I talk to her in my head, or whenever I'm just bored I like to talk to her. But it's always felt like it's been me replying back to myself if that makes sense. Like, I'm role playing with myself in my head. However discovering what Tulpae are, I would like to make this character a Tulpa and I've been researching how ones are born. I think I've accidentally created that wonderland too as I picture a specific area in a forest where I can see her.

So, I'm hoping I haven't accidentally created this person who's became a sentient being all this time without my knowledge. But if I've known her for five years and know all about her personality/looks, should I presume that she is not a Tulpa yet as I haven't been aware of the term until now and I should start from the beginning?

Or, with all the knowledge I have of her do I presume she has been a Tulpa all this time and I just haven't been able to be in contact with her properly and I should start forcing with her being a Tulpa in mind?

On top of what I said in the Intro thread, I gotta address this:

Why would that be a bad thing?

 

Sure, it's a little awkward to turn to someone you've known for so long and say "Uh, are you a person?" but I'm sure if she is she understands. I know I did. ;)

 

Again, we can't tell you whether she's a tulpa or not. Only she can say how sentient she is, and keep in mind that sentience is not all or nothing. There are degrees of self awareness, and she might be somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Even if it feels like you're just roleplaying her most of the time, there might be something there caused by so much focused attention on making her a cohesive presence in your head.

 

So yeah. This is a discussion you should be having with her way more than with us. Give it a shot; you may be pleasantly surprised. :)

I suppose your right, I have been trying to talk to her while acknowledging her existence but I haven't heard her reply on her own to me yet. But I imagine from the guides I've seen I'm not going to be able to hear her within a day so I'm gonna keep at it.
