I apologize if this thread was made already, I checked the first few pages and didn't see it, and searching "skills" or "drawing" brings up tons of threads that don't seem related.

I'm still in the middle of developing my tulpa so it's not something I can experiment with or answer myself, but I was wondering that when you are possessed by or switch with your tulpa, can your skills with certain actions be changed?

Obviously I don't think something like full on physical ability like running or strength would be changed since its the same body, but how about things like reaction time or someone's ability to draw? Is it possibly that your tulpa can have a faster reaction time while using your body than you? Or have a much higher drawing ability than you?

Also share your experiences if it's possible, sorry I realize I worded the thread sort of weird from my original intention.

I can't possess my host's body. However, we blend and he channels me to do collaborative art. I wouldn't say I am more skilled than he is, but my style is different and I have inspiration and ideas that come more easily to me and I take my art in different directions than he does with his. I have heard of tulpas having greater artistic talent than their hosts however.

I do have better fashion sense than my host when it comes to female dress. I am also a little wittier with humor and jokes than he is. I flirt better than he does and I am better at romantic banter than he is. I am more emotionally intuitive than he is.

I'd say this is possible, yeah. Like you said, not so much the physical abilities - although you can get surprisingly strong psychosomatic effects, I guess. It's more about skills which are mental, and in that regard I guess my tulpa has some slight variation to me when possessing. Not sure about reaction time or drawing ability, but we have things like some forms of problem-solving, work and so on, that appear different, for example.

Then again you asked about "much higher" ability - well, I wouldn't say "no" outright but it's not something I think is really that likely. When you've been doing possession for a while you and your tulpa tend to share memory for skills - motor memory, and whatever the equivalent for purely mental skills is. What that means is that if, say, your tulpa spends a lot of time practising a skill, you'll have that skill when you're in the body, too. I can't attest to this being true in the case of switching, personally (if they host isn't around at all while the tulpa is practising), but in the possession case, that's how it's been for me (and everyone I know).

My guess is that if you did have a big disparity in skills, it would be because either the host or the tulpa is being held back by expectations or something - the ability is there for them to be around as proficient as the other, they just don't think it is. But minor differences seem plausible to me, mainly for personality reasons, I guess. Melian gave some examples of that, and for my own, if my tulpa is more attentive and more inclined to focus, then that sure helps.

So tldr, yes but only a bit, I think.

And mindset affects a lot too! Me and my host are probably just as good as each other at drawing, but he won't ever do it because he's afraid to be bad at things. But I like drawing, I'm always proud of what I make. Sometimes how you think about things can make just as big a difference in being apparently good at something. Like, I bet a lot of tulpas who switch probably enjoy cooking more than their hosts - and if they do it and their hosts don't, they're automatically better!

But if you think just like your host then I don't know. I don't think most people do, so they're probably a little better and worse at something. It's not all about skill though. Unless being happy and nice to people is a skill?

Hi, I'm one of Lumi's tulpas! I like rain and dancing and dancing in the rain and if there's frogs there too that's bonus points.

I think being happy and having fun makes life worth living, so spreading happiness is my number one goal!
