I have ADHD, and while tulpamancy hasn't made my illness worse, there is the issue of my illness making it more difficult to give my tulpas the time and attention they need. :/ For example, the sit-down-and-meditate active forcing routine is extremely difficult for me, because, well, meditation by itself is difficult for me. The thought of "clearing my mind" and focusing on one thing for an extended period of time seems to be nearly impossible. So, I rely almost exclusively on passive forcing, with sometimes small bursts of active forcing here-and-there.

But, as others are pointed out, your tulpas could also potentially help you manage your mental illness. For example, sometimes Pinky will sort of grab my attention and bring me back to reality if my mind is wandering. And, just being in the habit of passive forcing (especially if I'm visualizing my tulpas in the world around me instead of in my wonderland) can help keep me grounded in the real world instead of getting lost in my head.

Unfortunately, though, there have also been times in my life when my mental illness takes a turn for the worse, and sometimes I have to put some or all of my tulpas into (what we've been calling) "hibernation mode" for a while until I have the mental stamina to care for all of them again. And when that's over, sometimes it's just difficult to get back into the routine of passive forcing again, so... it's a difficult balance.

All I can really say is that juggling tulpamancy and mental illness means that you might have your own needs and limitations that most forcing and other tulpa-related guides might not account for -- but, you know your own brain better than anyone else, so you'll have a better idea of what will and won't work for you. You'll just have to put a bit of thought and experimentation into what works and what doesn't. Oh, and, it's ok to tell your tulpas if you need some time to recover on your own, or when certain tulpa-related activities are becoming too much for you to handle. Your tulpas will probably be understanding and willing to work with you. That's how mine are, anyway.

Pinky is not a pony. She's an imp.

Sunray is an angel-imp. Ex is humanoid. Kael is a dragon. Magnum is a dog.
