Doing it from the beginning can only help. There's no one saying that you can't do both open-eyed and closed-eyed visualization simultaneously. It also speeds up the visualization process (or makes it more accurate if you've already done it) and makes keeping the tulpa's body in proportion much easier. Linda has grown more vocal since I began doing imposition, which suggests there may be some sort of correlation between the two. There's no real downside that I'm aware of, so it's worth doing if you have the time.
