Hello all, i made a post a few months prior, me and applejack have been doing well since.
The only issue i have is my problem with distinguishing reality, its becoming difficult, I'm having problems because of it, and its affecting my life.

Anyone know ways to solve this? I really don't want to pay off a debt to a psychologist/etc.

Your best

Can you give a little more detail? In what ways are you having trouble distinguishing reality from fantasy?

My bad, let me hand you a example.

Anyways, occasionally from time to time, my thoughts and senses seem to think the world isn't real, of course it isn't strong but unfortunately it makes me lack empathy or respect for others.

Its a weird feeling is what i can say, walking outside when the snow is melting and feeling it as fictional, not real.

I'm not a medical/psychological expert so take anything I say with a grain of salt, but that sounds like dissociation to me. I've never really experienced dissociation much if at all so I'm not the best person to ask about how to deal with it, but I've heard that a good strategy is to "ground" yourself with sensations. Name three things that you can see, three things you can hear, move three body parts. Hopefully someone with first-hand experience with similar problems can comment on this.

That's called derealization and what September13 said was good advice. I also had trouble with thinking nothing was real, what helped me was medication but you said you don't want professional help... (which you should absolutely get if it's starting to affect your life). I can half-relate to the lack of empathy, it didn't make me a psychopath or anything like that, but it made me think less about how others might feel, I ignored others' feelings without even realizing but far from hurting them, I don't know if that's your case. And remember that even if nothing was real, consequences still affect you. If you don't study, you fail, if you hit someone, you get (probably) hit back, if you kill, you go to jail, etc... You know.

Although I'm not entirely sure, your thing could be derealization (grounding techniques can help) or the delusion that nothing is real (in this case, medication helps). But yeah, a professional could help you better than anyone in this forum.

"what helped me was medication"
What type of medication, placebo, real?

And i don't want to sap my family with medical bills for something i cannot prove.
I'll get criticized for it.

Psychologists are too much of a money and time sink for me.

Real medication, antipsychotics
