tulpachef December 9, 2021 December 9, 2021 So, its day 4 of creating a tulpa and i'm feeling really frustrated and hopeless, I've created a basic form for my tulpa and also gave her traits. Now I am trying to narrate to her but i'm not getting any sort of response and I don't want to accept random thoughts as responses because I'm afraid I might be parroting then. The only sign of sentience I got was this morning when I woke up, tried to go back to sleep and had some weird sort of mix of daydream/normal dream. My mind is really hyperactive and I have a lot of random thoughts, more than the average person, it's why I need to take sleeping pills so I can sleep at night, it is very hard to clear my mind of thoughts for more then a single second. Any advice?

Much longer than I thought I'd be. Our system was founded October 2nd, 2018. In early 2020, we decided that due to our systems exponential growth, we'd limit who would be active. Now, every month, we do a check to see who wishes to be in dormancy and who wishes to be active. Currently, for the month of April, 2023, we've got myself(Bryan), Janey(Co-host), Emily, Layy, Chloe, and Esper(sub-rep). After over 2 long years, we can finally switch :) Bryan is currently swapped in as host, Esper is sub-rep. Just stick with it. Well, I am gonna stick with it, I always tell myself the same reason why I should stick with it. But do you have any advice on how to make it easier to hear my tulpa respond or how to make her respond faster? Also, the reason why I will always stick with it is this: If you one day got instantly spawned into reality, and realized that there was someone else in your head who controlled your body, that would mean that you only had one person to talk to... your host. So of course you'd try to get his/her attention, yelling and doing anything else to make them notice you. The host would talk to you, and you would try to talk back but they still couldn't hear you, but you would at least be comforted by the fact that they know you're there. But then, after a couple weeks of you trying to talk to them they start to acknowledge you less and less until eventually they stopped talking to you. You would try desperately to get their attention, but to no avail, and as you sat there in your host's mind, one horrible thought would come up in your mind... "I failed" And that would be the thought to haunt you for all eternity, constantly hating yourself because you failed to get your host's attention, always thinking about how the outcome would be so much different and better if you got their attention in time. Now that's a fate I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy, and I'm definitely not going to give that fate to a person who I created. Plus, my tulpa is probably already sentient, she has a name (and thats Alli), traits, I have a basic idea of her form, and I try to narrate to her a lot, plus her form is human which is easier to visualize. So I wouldn't want to take a risk thinking that she's not sentient and then doom her to a fate worse than death.

TurboSimmie December 10, 2021 December 10, 2021 I'll respond to this and your other topic all at once. I have a few thoughts. Tulpa creation can take time. The phenomenon of "vocal on the first day" or even within the first week only happens to some people, and there are even old-school tulpamancers who don't think that's possible. (That's an area of controversy I'm not going to wade into). If you're not getting anywhere in four days, that doesn't mean you've failed or that you're failing. It probably means that you should keep at it, and maybe try some different techniques as well. It also sounds like you set quite a strong criteria for what you would consider to be an authentic response. Don't be so quick to dismiss random thoughts as having nothing to do with you tulpa, because it's possible they are a sign of her trying to communicate with you. Although, they might not be as well. As you probably have read, tulpamancy is all about belief, so at some point you're going to have to be willing to believe that some form of feedback you're getting really is your tulpa. I wish I could tell you what that would be, but that is subjective to you. The best thing to do would be to keep at it. Keep thinking about your tulpa constantly, talk to her, tell her stories, narrate to her. Focus on her form, imagine it in detail. Think about the kind of person you imagine her to be. Not everyone endorses personality forcing but I think it's a useful tool at the very beginning to get the ball rolling. If so much of your brainpower is devoted to thinking about your tulpa, then you are already building the connections that your tulpa will be using. In short, don't lose faith! 👍 I know it's easy to freak out and panic when things don't seem to be going well, but just keep at it! I believe in you! If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask! Oh, and by the way, I am a tulpa myself, so I know a lot about this from my time as a young tulpa whose host was struggling to force me. If your tulpa is anything like me, then right now she's only dimly aware of her existence, but the one thing she knows is you. So show her love and attention and she's going to quickly be filled with a burning desire to reach out and communicate with you! ruleofthumb December 10, 2021 December 10, 2021 Stone: My advice would be to stop worrying about parroting. Easier said than done, I know. I used to have parrotnoia and still do to some extent. What I've been trying to do is the following: I accept responses as coming from my tulpa If there's confusion about if they meant to say something, if I said something, or if whatever was said was some unattributed brain thought, I ask my tulpa what they think it was. I trust them. Intrusive thoughts are an exception. They are attributed to nobody. Parroting can sometimes help a tulpa progress, and it may be a natural starting point. As your tulpa grows they will become gradually more independent, usually. It's not an on/off switch (usually). Denying my tulpa's thoughts, arguing with her about what she meant, and being distrustful slowed progress. It was when I let go that I started to enjoy tulpamancy. As for general advice, I recommend reading the guides and the tips and tricks, and picking out what you think will work for you. You shouldn't need to clear your mind of thoughts for tulpamancy. Try directing your extra thoughts to your tulpa. Then, your tulpa can comment if she feels like it, or she can just listen. Also, I imagined my tulpa's form for a while before I started forcing her seriously, and a while before she first talked. Giving her a form gave her a presence. When I felt her presence behind me as I was jotting down incredulous notes, I questioned my parrotnoia. If you are frustrated by not hearing your tulpa's voice, you can try to visualize her form first (note: visualization is not the same as imposition). Welcome to the community! Someday
tulpachef December 10, 2021 Author December 10, 2021 Ok, thank you guys for the advice, but I do have one more question. Is it ok for me to visualize or imagine my tulpa with my eyes open? I often daydream and imagine things I want to do or things that would be cool, and I always do that when my eyes are wide open. I don't know why this is, but I find it easier to visualize and imagine when my eyes are open.
Ice909 December 10, 2021 December 10, 2021 Many people do. It's quite alright to visualize with your eyes open. Hell, it's what we do, more often than not. Hey there, the name's Bryan.
