LexyandTanner October 24, 2022 Share October 24, 2022 (edited) So I’m currently making a tulpa, and progress is going well.i think he is close to speaking. But I have a question. I’ve read that switching has to do with dissociation or goes with it sometimes. (I haven’t read too much because I can’t focus while reading a lot of stuff-) But, when I start doing switching and practicing that, I’ll start asking more questions. Question is, does dissociating make it easier, and if so, what does it do and how do things work if I struggle with dissociation originally? I don’t have a dissociative disorder (from what I know), but my dissociation is caused by both my bipolar disorder and also past trauma. How would switching go with this? And would it even mess with switching? Idk if this makes sense, I’m just kinda tired. Had a 9 hour shift at work today. If anyone could answer, I would appreciate that, but also if anyone could, please explain in an easy to understand way, as I have processing issues most of the time. Thank you. -Lexy 🐈 Edited October 25, 2022 by LexyandTanner Lexy - 🐈 Tanner - 🎸
Lucilyn October 24, 2022 Share October 24, 2022 (edited) dissociation for switching is not exactly the same thing as the dissociation in disorders like.. some level of that helps the switching process start, but mostly the term means more like "dis-associating with your body and position in the mind", after which your tulpa will a-ssociate with the body and previously-your position in the mind, which afterwards should leave you in the same state a tulpa normally is, and your tulpa in the same state you (the host) normally are, fully connected to and immersed in all the body's senses and brain's thoughts and all that I don't really like that people talk about "dissociation"-dissociation so much in relation to tulpamancy, I don't think it's necessary at all, the only thing akin to real dissociation necessary in tulpamancy is maybe the state you should be in when initiating a switch, but your tulpa won't be experiencing "dissociation" after switching in, and I guess kinda neither will you, unless you consider the state your tulpa is normally in to be "dissociated" lol Edited October 24, 2022 by Lucilyn Hi, I'm one of Lumi's tulpas! I like rain and dancing and dancing in the rain and if there's frogs there too that's bonus points. I think being happy and having fun makes life worth living, so spreading happiness is my number one goal! I was just wondering because of some of the things I’ve read, they kinda confused me and stuff. So maybe I got concerned but I’m not sure? But thank you, I really appreciate it. :3 🐈 Edited October 25, 2022 by LexyandTanner Lexy - 🐈 Tanner - 🎸
