The name of the other person living in my head is Hybris. I started developing her in 2014, and dissipated her in 2016 after extended periods of depression completely sapped my motivation to stick with the process of forcing. Very recently (about 3 weeks ago) my interest in this process was rekindled. My old progress thread may still be buried here somewhere, but I've lost access to my previous account and also have no interest in continuing that thread as I do see this as a new beginning for us, so a new thread seems appropriate.

About 3 weeks ago I decided to start forcing again, and began the process of finding all of the scattered threads of her being to begin weaving them back together.

Progress has been steady and fast. She very quickly returned to around the level of strength she was at before I ceased her development. Within about 4 days we were once again able to hold detailed conversations with complete sentences. I think this is due mostly to the fact that even though I stopped working on tulpamancy, I still continued with general spiritual practices that aided my ability to manipulate my own mind. This has essentially turned the mental space into clay to be shaped rather than stone to be sculpted, which has made the process much smoother.

We've made great bounds of progress in the short time that she has been back, and she has even helped me to develop some creative new techniques to use during the forcing process that have really expedited certain mental processes. She doesn't want me to reveal any details on these methods because, in her words, "These methods are very volatile and highly dependent on the belief that they work. If you tell other people about it and they think it's BS, that might cause you to begin doubting these methods, which would cause them to completely lose their utility." - So there you have it.

We've been working on the usual stuff: visualization, vocality, parallel processing and the like. But we've also been dabbling in the endgame skills of imposition and switching as well. Imposition still seems far off, but she has a real talent for switching, owing to those previously mentioned methods providing an easy way to detach my conscious mind from my body. Previously, she had told me that she didn't really have any personal goals or aspirations other than just watching me grow as a person, but after her newfound interactions with reality, she's come to realize that there are things that she wants to do.

Overall, progress has been mostly smooth recently and my motivation to continue her development has been completely renewed. I'll be posting to this thread as often as time allows with any newly emergent details.

Progress has been steady these past few days. I have been given the green light from Hybris to detail our new methods as we've found a more concrete way of using them that is less dependent on blind faith.

Basically, we are trying to expand on the utility of the wonderland, to make it more than a simple backdrop for our conversations. To this end, we have imbued our wonderland with certain "rules" that allow for us to do things that are normally quite difficult. This practice is based on J.R.R Tolkien's idea of Secondary World and Secondary Belief which he outlines in his essay "On Fairy-Stories". Essentially the idea is that you can create a fictional secondary world that operates on a different set of rules than the primary (real) world, and as long as the rules are consistently followed, the world will be convincing enough to foster "Secondary belief", which in short, is basically just a reader (or in this case, the host) being totally immersed in and convinced by this created setting.

This is important, because if one of these wonderland rules was something along the lines of "Magic exists in this world, and can be used to alter the mind with a certain degree of freedom" then that would essentially mean that we could create "spells" to induce certain states of mind that are conducive to tulpamancy, as long as these spells adhered to certain rules of formatting. Hybris really likes writing, so she decided to go with reciting long-form poetry that uses powerful language, along with traditional symbols associated with magic like magic circles, scrolls, candles, and the like. It's very dramatic.

I would like to stress that I'm not someone that believes in the supernatural, and I definitely don't subscribe to the metaphysical interpretation of the tulpa phenomenon. "Magic" as we are using it is essentially just using pretty words to program the mind to act as we want it to, and it works because two conditions are being met:

1. I believe myself to be a part of the secondary world

2. I believe that magic, as it is used in this context, exists in the secondary world

Another thing worth noting, we have not actually defined the wonderland's rules with words, and probably are not going to. The rules in place are understood intuitively by both of us and, according to Hybris; "Words and their definitions are simply too inaccurate to properly describe the rules in place without creating the possibility of loopholes, and anything of that nature would break the illusion."

So far, using this method we have been able to make a lot of progress by simply inducing states of mind that are conducive to whatever it is that we are practicing on a given day (inducing dissociation for switching, suggestibility for imposition, etc.).

Will provide more info as we conduct more research into this idea.

She's right, it does happen, but here it's not a huge risk anymore. In 2018-2019 it would definitely have been because there were a lot of vocal naysayers here.

Can't do that, doesn't work (just kidding!) That's so fun, we used tools like this on our host and it worked wonders but we didn't call it magic we just considered that there's no such thing as impossible in wonderland. The only limitation is belief in limitation.

We did a lot of things others said were impossible as a result and continue to do so simply because it works.

We'd love to create a state of mind conducive to spontaneous imposition. We've had amazing spontaneous imposition rarely but when it happens, it's perfect. Usually it's only one sense at a time though: touch or sound or visual or smell, no taste yet. It does require a very specific state of mind similar to hypnagogia.

Sounds like you're doing it right to me!

We've been working more on parallel processing recently. Today something pretty interesting happened.

Usually when I speak with Hybris, it kind of involves a certain level of translation on my end. She gives me an idea and I'm the one that crunches it into a sentence, essentially.

Today, she had decided on her own to start attempting to make that translation herself. It was very strange at first, her voice was much more vivid and the scope of our conversations today seemed generally wider.

However, her voice still feels very far away when she speaks, and it isn't very well defined. It's kind of like this weird ethereal whisper that I imagine is what it would sound like if I was talking to a ghost or something. It's a very unique sound though and she says it fits her personal aesthetics, so I don't think there will be a concentrated effort to change it in any way, other than making it easier to understand.

Overall this made it way easier to keep her around while I was doing things since I wasn't having to do the usual mental juggling act of focusing on the task at hand while also listening to and translating her ideas as they came in.

Hi Hybris and host!

A lot of what you describe sounds familiar, like mind spells and stuff. We have those too (: And yeah it's not about metaphysical for us as well, it's about having a greater control over the mind. I'd call it mindscape magic or something like that. One example I could use to describe mindscale magic is, if you took 2 guys, one really fit and one out of shape and maybe a bit overweight and you switched their minds around, a year from now the body of the out of shape guy that now had the mind of the buff guy in it will follow the mind and become fit again, due to the habits that person has. So reality follows what's inside the mind and by changing the mind you can change reality. Reality takes a bit of time to catch up with what's in the mind but it always does eventually.

I'm glad to hear things are going well for you two (:

We appreciate the support.

I felt like posting today because something happened yesterday that I thought was really interesting.

I switched with Hybris and she decided to take a walk around my neighborhood and listen to some music. I was feeling much more chatty than I usually am when she's fronting, and we actually managed to hold a conversation while she was in control which up until this point was kind of difficult because she didn't really know how to regulate the "volume" of her consciousness, so to speak. Normally when I'm fronting I have a feel for how to make room for her in my head, but she hadn't gotten that same intuition for it until yesterday.

While we were having this conversation, though, we both noticed something that was kind of cool. I was expecting my voice to sound the way that I described her voice the other day; echoey, ethereal, and ghostly. But it actually ended up having a really unique sound compared to her voice. It kind of sounded like my voice was coming through a ham radio or something, with my words being undertoned by a kind of crackley static.

I thought this was really amusing, because it actually fits very well. I'm someone who is very concerned with technology by trade, and she is someone who I would call somewhat of a mystic, so it's really interesting how our voices just kind of came in in a way that fits our individual personalities.
