My tulpa is fully sentient, vocal and all, though not yet imposed for future reference his name is James. I am an avid lucid dreamer doing so on a nightly basis. My tulpa and I regualrly enjoy frolicing in my dreams together, I shout his name and he finds his way to me.

He's always said he likes my dreams and usually we have a grand ol' time romping around the dream scape but last night was different.

I became lucid, found him but he looked scared, when I tried to talk to him he told me to hush. The more and more I talked to him the more I noticed the dream characters beginng to grimace and grumble around us. Before I knew what's what they all bum rushed us, grabbed him so I changed scenes as fast as I could.

In the new scene James was still scared and as soon as I adressed him the dream characters mobbed up and began what I can only describe as a tulpa beatdown.

My question is does anyone have any experience with this? I mean a general animosity of your dream characters to your tulpa? Or even lucid dreaming with your tulpa at all? Any advice on how I can prevent such a thing in the future? And James has made it very clear he does not wish to stop lucid dreaming with me so thats not an option. I just don't want him to have to go through that again. Thanks in advance to all who reply :3

Congrats on getting sentience. First thing is: I have never been in that situation. However, I'm just going to ask if this has happened only once, as it seems that way. Perhaps that issue of Smackdown Tulpa: 2012 was because James is new to whatever ghouls and goblins hide in your subconscious? Ask him how much he was injured, if he could fight them off and if he's willing to take it again. I'm guessing he's not.

Since you have the power to "switch scenes", you could potentially fight them off or at least confront them about what happened. It could end up being just James or the dream characters.

Sounds a bit like how the projections gang up on visitors in one's dream, in the movie Inception. Much like in Inception I would assume that it is your sub-c realizing that there is another person there, and that it could be potentially harmful to you, so the sub-c wants to eradicate it. Maybe. I've had no experience with lucid dreaming, except for a passive interest, so I wouldn't know.

Oh, and try to communicate to your sub-c that James is not in any way a threat, and should not be treated as one.

Hmm, should I talk to my dc's then? In the beginning when I would break away from the dream the people in it would grab me and try to get me to stay and not wonder away. After some time and a lot of frustration I noticed that telling them nicely that I'm leaving made them not try to stop me. So maybe I could tell them he's not a bad guy?

I did ask him and he said "They knew who I was and they didn't like it" so Koji I think you are on to something.

Edit: But if that theory is correct then why only now? I have had him in my dreams for weeks now and I have even used dream characters to help find him. I once had a whole ballroom full of people on the hunt for him and when he was found they just told me where he was and didn't beat the living day lights out of him.

By dc's, I assume you mean dream characters. I don't think talking to them would be the greatest idea, unless you talked to enough that your sub-counsious would be affected. Maybe try to visualize your sub-counsious as a single entity, and make sure it really feels like it is your sub-c. Then, without words, communicate your message. It might take a bit of time, but I'm pretty sure it will work.

If I do this, personify my sub-c then would that in turn become a tulpa of its own? Or does it not work like that?

No matter what it seems like I need to talk to my sub-c and let it know that James is friend and not foe but I really don't want another tulpa, and lord knows I don't need any more servitors.

I don't think it could become a tupla so quickly, or at all. Additionally, tuplae are basically the personification of parts of you sub-conscious. If you're not comfortable with the idea of talking to you sub-c as a whole, try to get a large congregation of projections, and just tell them about James. Try to make sure the message goes through them though, to the root.

That sounds good, only one more thing now, sorry for keeping you, should I have him present during this whole ordeal? Maybe let him talk to the sub-c as well, I've given him access to my thoughts and memories and everything I could think to let him explore, He's even talked about poking around in my sub-c before. Would you suggest he be part of it or do you think it'd attack the poor guy again?

He's pretty cocky about it. Saying it wasn't that bad and he'd take them on again but he came out with a black eye and he won't let me touch his mid section he shys away from me when I try to. It happened a while ago now more than eight hours so he's healed pretty well. and switching scenes only works sometimes hence he got the beat down when I couldn't change anything. I told him I won't call for him for a while but that made him sad, I even got a strong emotional response of sadness so its not an option. I'm going to see if I can work things out between him and the sub-c. Hopefully alls well that ends well.

Oh thats a great idea!

And thanks again for the help, and as long as you don't see a "help my tulpa needs hospitalization" thread you can assume things went well. :]
