Is tulpamancy a correct choice for a "hikikomori" for the event the Internet disappears?

Yes, I will have to deal with people at some point, but I will likely reject any conversations not related to the work matters, for own safety.

Because the Internet and computing in general is already not what it supposedly was earlier. Various countries, not only Russia, introduce Internet censorship and take down a lot of content worldwide. Computer users get harassed by things like surveillance and forced accounts more and more as software gets updated. While workarounds for all this stuff exist at the moment, it doesn't mean it will be so forever. Even if the Internet itself will continue to exist, at some point I might consider to quit.

It seems you want a Tulpa in order to prepare for a situation that you think is going to happen in the future (ie the end of the internet) because you plan to live a life of near total isolation?

There are conditions where a person may not have interest in other people.. Schizoid Personality Disorder mentions ‘a lack of interest in social relationships’ and ‘tendency towards solitary or sheltered lifestyle’   and inability to form attachments .in particular mentions lack of interest in intimate/sexual relationships as you have mentioned above.

Schizotypal personality disorder also has similar issues and described as "People with this disorder often feel pronounced discomfort in forming and maintaining social connections with other people"

it also includes paranoid and unusual thoughts and beliefs like your feelings about the internet and being under survellience etc. Although growing up in a country such as Russia or China where govt and laws are much stricter than the western world I guess would make citizens more afraid of such things?

I think it may help if you looked into this to understand why you have those thoughts and beliefs which in turn may lead to the answer you are looking for.

You should do this, you may be surprised how even your perception of reality can skewed by intensive thoughts on something like this, this realisation stopped us from thinking that the world was against us.

Spoiler

To agree with The Incans, it is concerning that your current mental health seems to have cased you to have an very pessimistic view of the future, I hope that this prediction is wrong and that the internet continues to retain it's free speech in Russia.

I am a "hikikomori" (no idea if the term is correct, I am not in Japan) and not talking to anyone outside Internet, and it is the only source of information about the world for me. But as I noticed long ago, the Internet is slowly getting ruined by governments, and the websites themselves shut down too for various reasons.

I don't know about Russian or Chinese internet, but the internet is more controlled by corporate entitys like Google than actual governments I believe.

I am depressed due to issues with computer technology, and unwanted socializing in physical world (living together with someone). I don't see how is socializing supposed to help here.

I believe that you can not be a hikikomori while living together with someone, as being a hikikomori requires true isolation. That being said, I hope that you can find peace. socialising can be appreciated more when you can focus on only that without consent forced distractions getting in the way. Having quite time alone is important, but if you do get that, then after a while you'll then start to notice the effect of loneliness I imagine.

As for your computer issues, I can only suggest using a VPN, Firewall, Anti-virus, the usual tech stuff.

It doesn't change the point. Someone controls the Internet and introduces bad changes.

These are workarounds that don't truly resolve the issue, and might also become corrupt (e.g. certain free anti-viruses spreading like a virus on badware websites, or selling data). I use them, but I am not happy I have to.

If you really feel this way about the internet then what needs to be done, if anything can be done, to prevent the internet from being entirely controlled by someone? Just something to think about, but you'll need to talk to people higher up if you want anything to done, of course random internet people can't do anything.

Having to rely on someone else for computer security isn't ideal for trust, but that dependance could be said for other things like the food that we eat, as long as it's popular and trusted software it feels safe enough even if it's free. The best thing to do it to not share any personal information online and keep any personal data separate and offline, it's just the only way to feel truly safe really.

A tulpa can be developed offline or online, once they're developed through they'll want a way to talk to people online like you do, but if you don't have access to Discord or Reddit then I don't know how you can enter a large online community, you can use a separate phone number and/or email so it's not tied to you too much.

To fix human society in some way. It is probably about politics (in which I don't believe, however), which is, I think, off-topic here.

Unfortunately, popular software is often affected by enshittification the first.

I am not on these places, though I use IRC and XMPP for now, which do not cause any troubles on registration (if some place does, I avoid it). I am not aware of any tulpamancy communities there though (AFAIK this one exists on Rizon, but Rizon blocks Tor access last time I checked), but there may be other communities for relevant topics. When no human contact can be made, it can be attempted to get some response from a local LLM.

@udsaki I really couldn’t understand why you were expecting the internet to disappear but I have been reading the news today and one paper is suggesting that our country should be prepared for no water, power etc in case Russia attacks via a ‘grey out’ …leaving the population without water, power and of course internet (with no power to cables etc) advising people to get in extra water, food that didn't need to be cooked, a battery powered radio to hear news and iodine tablets for radiation!!

I hope its just stupid press writing scare stories to generate more sales and not actually something that could happen but given how things are going between Russia and Ukraine and relaising you are actually in Russia …now I guess it doesn’t seem such an unrealistic thing to happen!!
