I want to create a tulpa, but I'm scared of failing morally

Question

I have been considering tulpa creation for about three years now-- which I think is how long I personally needed to keep interest in the topic to prove to myself that I wasn't going to forsake the process midway. I've been looking through all manner of resources-- on here, r/tulpas, and YouTube primarily. I have one main question that I have not been able to answer from the sources I have, and thus have come to ask you all:

How do I most ethically go about creating a tulpa? Where should I draw the line between what degree of imposition of traits is necessary for creation and what is violation of another being's will?

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

That's a complicated question but I don't think there's too much to worry about.

I was an imaginary friend originally, so I had a ton of stuff imposed on me. The important thing is to give them breathing room once they start to become sentient. Nightfall did that for me after he learned about tulpas.

Also, it is definitely not necessary to give them any traits either. I believe I've heard of a few that were made like that.

I hope I answered your questions. Also, I'm glad you're thinking about how to treat your tulpa already! 😊

I'll give you just one tulpa's opinion.

What's important is that respect the humanity of the tulpa. You can state your preferences, you can hope your tulpa will turn out a certain way, as long as you understand that ultimately your tulpa will have the final say on what they are like.

My host consciousness didn't start with any preconceived notion of how they wanted me to be. They set about trying to communicate with me and then asked me who I was and what I was like. I recommend this, mostly because it turned out wonderfully for our system. We're a great support and comfort to one another.

I see it like raising a child. Of course you're going to have preconceptions and preferences, but ultimately the child will be who the child is, and you will learn to love them as they are.

Does this help?

I started with the notion that first 2 were spirits/souls and they shared this body with me until they had decided what they wanted their body to be like in our wonderland.   As my first two were based on loved ones who had passed they started in that form (for me ..how I visualised them when talking to them I often looked at their photo's when talking to them) but as time went on they evolved...changed their images and were able to communicate with me how they then felt they looked..we used character creaters in video games but there's many apps now for creating avatars etc to give them a way to show you what they want to look like.
