Here's what a person on another board had to say about tulpas.

We can only say that there is no way to 'keep control' of them, but rather responsibility lies with the Creator for whatever occurs during the period of the Tulpa's existence in materialization and so before creation there must be the most clearly defined interpretation and singularity of focus according to the desired nature of the Tulpa established within the self. You must know that which you want to see. Giving individuation to intelligent energy is no playful task, although it can be fun to engage it, it must be seen that there are very real possible results that can stem from the mind in materialization. Materialization is the mind arranged anew.

Intelligent Energy is the energy that created everything that is physically manifest by the Logos (or the principle of Love). Everything has basis in Love and Light, through Free Will.

Why is it always blame the parents? If I construct knife and some one uses it to to stab a fireman, is that my fault? Do we blame drunk drivers on the Ford Motor Company? Maybe Jesus is to blame for all the drownings, he invented water.

"Follow your bliss."-Joseph Campbell

He also said:

We would caution against the use of thought-forms as a replacement for actual relationships. This is, in our view, very unhealthy in the illusion of which you are a part, in which the co-existence with other-selves is a fundamental aspect and could potentially lead to a worsening of the psychological effects you have experienced throughout your life, due to the fact that the Tulpa would absorb in to itself all of your longing and yearnings and quickly become hungry for more. This could be abated with stability and focus but that requires a less than casual approach.

Is this true?

I don't know if it is true but I'll offer my two cents. Toby actually encourages me to be social. Before he came around I almost never went out and now I find myself making excuses to hang out with my friends do I don think a healthy tulpa would want to be a replacement for people around you.

On the other note. Toby and I are a couple, it's like livin in a really awesome sexless marriage lol but the reason for this is that I am asexual and relationships dont appeal to me. He's done a pretty awesome job at filling that void for me and I show him the same love and respect.

Two points for that.

1) he made the first move and we talked a lot before deciding to try this. It wa a mutual decision and not a forced one.

2) in a normal healthy person I would not advise allowing your tulpa to be something like for you.

Tulpas can enhance your life or destroy it depending on your mindset and how you choose to go about things. For some people tulpas have made them more social, boosted their self esteem and guided them to better choices but for others they have replaced friends, boyfriends, the host has made bad choices and allowed their tulpa to become their life.

Ultimately it comes down to you and what choices you make.

During the creation phase I've been putting my tulpa as #1.

Though I still have friends I talk to. The tulpa doesn't keep me from my friends.

As long as you have balance you'll be fine and that goes for all things

Actually I tend to put my dog first. He's my favorite. My tulpa hasn't developed enough for a relationship.

My tulpa sometimes makes me feel nauseated though. Got some anxiety nerves from him.

And now he says:

You do not need to create a Tulpa to enjoy inner exploration and experience of other-selves within. A Tulpa is a tool, a method of ascertaining a particular type of work. If your interest is mainly that of entertainment and comfort, then you are at no harm to explore the interaction with any and every kind of entity in your mind.

A Tulpa is specifically for when that idea is needed as a manifestation. Otherwise you can freely make use of the mind to explore your interests, no need for a Tulpa.

But I really do want a tulpa. It's hard to explain to him what they mean to me.

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks. If you want a tulpa have a tulpa and try to form your own understanding with chance about what he is.

Everyone has a different definition but it's up to you to find your own. Some think of them as tools, bridges to the subconcious or spirit guides. Some see them as a seperate consciousness withing your own mind and some think they are a glorified imaginary friend but the truth is no one knows the truth.

All we have are a set of opinions. So continue with chance, have a great time and try to form your own opinion.

I haven't the faintest idea what Toby is but he's been with me my whole life and I can't imagine living without him, and I certainly wouldn't deny anyone else that kind of experiance. Don't let anyone deny you yours.
