Candice And Aristelle February 18, 2015 February 18, 2015 I was close to sleeping and I really wanted to talk to my tulpa so I told her stuff, and when I was about to sleep a out of nowhere I heard a robotic Male(ish?) voice say "Hey." Does that mean she's starting to be sentient and is it normal for the tulpa's first words to sound robotic? (Also btw I wanted her to be a female)
Chupi February 18, 2015 February 18, 2015 Sounds like a start, though don't worry if she doesn't say more for a while. Hearing voices is one thing that can happen as you drift to sleep -- it's called hypnagogia and it's kind of like an indistinct dream trying to start before you're all the way asleep. The typical ones usually aren't robotic though unless you've been watching TV/movies featuring that sort of voice. At least for me if I get them they're typically snips of voices I've heard during the day. A monotone, robotic voice is pretty common for a tulpa who's just starting to speak aloud. FAQ_Man, who wrote one of the first guides, described it as somewhat like the voice you get from a GPS. If you occasionally get hypnagogic voices, think about what they're like. At least for me they spout random words and phrases with no rhyme or reason. Times I've heard my tulpas when falling asleep, they made more sense and I could converse with them. However if they're most of the way asleep too they sometimes spout gibberish, which isn't a problem; my own thoughts turn to gibberish too past a certain point.
