i finally got around to finishing that ftl campaign from a while ago just before making it to sector 6, two of my zoltans died, leaving me with a crew of a zoltan (on weapons), an engi (on engines), and two mantises (one on piloting and one on shields). being down two zoltans meant that i was effectively down two power bars, so upgrading my reactor was my first priority. my sector 6 and 7 aren't too remarkable; my crew spends this grieving for their fallen comrades and getting used to the reduced crew size, and i spend it upgrading the ship in a fairly standard way. we manage to pick up another crew member in sector 7; an engi, who replaces the mantis on shields (and the mantis goes back to her old role as security officer) in sector 8, going in to fight the rebel flagship (final boss of the game), my ship is in pretty good condition for the most part. we've got a halberd beam, two flak 1s, and an ion blast, which is fantastic. shields and weapons are fully upgraded, and hacking is partially upgraded. no extra systems like mind control or cloaking, and various systems that i would rather be higher. but that's how it always is i engage the flagship at the federation base. they hack my weapons and, annoyingly, are able to almost completely lock down my halberd beam. ultimately, i dispatch the first phase, but it's more messy than i would have liked now, normally, when the strategy for dealing with the different phases of the flagship is to wait for the flagship to come back to the federation base in phase 2 so that when it jumps away after getting defeated, you can follow it and engage outside of the federation base in phase 3, so that if your crew has difficulty dealing with the boarding party, you can safely retreat back to the federation base to kill off the boarding party without having to deal with the flagship at the same time. however, i instead choose chase after the phase 2 flagship, because from the beacon that it jumped to, i can jump to a repair beacon. so my plan is to chase after them, and then jump away without defeating them so that i can use the repair beacon to get my ship in better shape, and then jump back and actually fight them so i jump to chase after the phase 2 flagship, but then when my engines are charged up, i check the map and the rebels have already captured the repair beacon i wanted to go to, so the plan is a bust. i am left with no choice but to stand and fight anyway, phase 2 flagship goes down easily, more easily than phase 1 even. but now i'm left fighting phase 3 at the federation base, which means that i have nowhere to retreat to i engage the flagship, and after the opening salvo, we knock out each other's zoltan shields and they send in a boarding crew and mind control my zoltan. on the ship to ship level, i'm doing fine, but my crew is overwhelmed trying to deal with boarders and mindcontrol while also repairing systems and putting out fires. medbay is both down and on fire, so no one can heal. one by one, the start dying first, my zoltan, the last remaining member of the original crew, was influenced by mind control to throw themselves into a fire. then my newest officer, the engi on shields, is fatally struck by the shrapnel from a missile. my two mantises lay down their lives, fighting hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned by the rebel boarding party. all that's left is my final engi, but the mantises were able to buy enough time for the halberd beam to finish charging, and the rebel flagship, at least, is irreparably bisected that's where my part ends; with the flagship destroyed, the federation is saved, and the game tells me that this is my first victory on hard mode with this ship type. but what of the engi, and the surviving rebel boarding crew? the rebels must know, my ship doesn't have a reputation for accepting surrender. even with the flagship destroyed, to them it must seem better to try to kill the remaining engi and commandeer my ship than to attempt to negotiate for surrender. we saved the federation, but was it enough to save my last remaining crew member?

It's kinda just a blanket statement I use for anything related to esoteric teachings that pertain to the mind... so tulpas, daemons, servitors, other thoughtforms, and so on. They're esoteric practices that focus on the mind, and as schools of thought have a lot of metaphysical and "thinking about thinking" philosophies, so I call them all examples of "esoteric meta-cognition." Some of the info here is definitely insightful, thanks for the links. The full guide by Ayre resonates with me a bit, seeing as I am a fictional writer and a lot of their guide centers around "creating a character" as the method of tulpa formation. But man, I read some of those replies, and 2016 tulpa.info was not happy with this guide lmao. The mini guide also mentions this "character description" method, as well. Perhaps I'll have to look into doing it myself and see how it goes. Thanks for the welcome and encouragement!

Back when I was heavily into Minecraft I would always play with 100+ mods, one of them being Equivalent Exchange, which allowed you to convert any matter into energy therefore I could get wood back from a door if I wanted to 🤓☝🏻
