mayanightstar March 4, 2016 March 4, 2016 I have a pretty well developed skill with visualization, which I thought would be great, but it's come back to bite me. See, all my visualization expertise comes from laying out compositions for drawings and comic pages, and the things that go through my head look like a movie. Quite literally. I'm worried that this might become a problem as my tulpa developes further, but I don't actually know, because I don't really know what it looks like in other people's heads when they hang out with their tulpa in their wonderland, etc. Thoughts? I almost gave up on tulpas after deciding I was happy with my semi-sentient OCs the way they were. Then one of them decided he'd be a tulpa anyway and I pretty much had no choice. Host/Mun: Micah. Temar March 4, 2016 March 4, 2016 Yep, you're fine. My host is good at visualization, too. Comes from lots of reading and writing, so she can pretty much conjure up any image she wants in vivid detail. It's pretty awesome. ;) If anything, this has been an asset, especially when it comes to anything to do with the wonderland or imposition. So, I'm wondering what, specifically, you're worried about? Maybe you're concerned about your ability to interact directly with your tulpa? In that case, I wouldn't worry about it. Think of it like a videa game. You can be there in third person view, where you have an avatar in the headspace that you control, but can still watch interacting with the tulpa and wonderland. Or, you can be there in first person view, where you are the "camera." There is also the option of not physically interacting at all, but being there as a nebulous presence that we can speak to but can't necessarily touch. My host does all three of these depending on mood. So yeah. Let us know any specific concerns. Otherwise, sounds like you've got a good thing going. ~ Member of SparrowNR's system ~ ~ I am a soulbond. Click here to find out what that means. ~
SomethingDire March 4, 2016 March 4, 2016 Most of my daydreaming happens in a video game/short-movie type of format. It hasn't had any effect on my tulpa's development, if anything, it has helped with planning out how the form would move around. I wouldn't say it would become a problem, unless you have anything else in mind that would somehow relate to this topic. (i.e: Subconscious puppeting, maybe? Though puppeting is not always a bad thing-- It can be very helpful if you know when to let go of the reins, unlike me.) I'm SomethingDire, and Céleste is my partner in crime.
mayanightstar March 4, 2016 Author March 4, 2016 It was mostly the third person part I was worried about. My mind's eye would jump around to different camera angles all the time because how I've trained myself, and even though I'd still have my own avatar in my headspace, I worried that maybe it wasn't really "me" since I'm not seeing out of those eyes. But if this is just a quirk that won't get in the way of anything, that's reassuring. Thanks for your answers. Guest Anonymous March 4, 2016 March 4, 2016 I really don't see how third person cinematic visualization could be anything but beneficial. Congratulations on having such visualization talent! Remember the tulpa is not its form. The form is a representation of the tulpa, but not the tulpa itself. My host also has an avatar that he projects (imagines) into my wonderland. We consider what we do with the wonderland to be a form of day dreaming actually, but there is nothing wrong with it. We imagine and day dream together, just as we dream together. Sometimes it is third person perspective (he and I "watching" together) or from his avatar's perspective or from my perspective. We consider persons very lucky if they can achieve this level of visualization (day dreaming) talent with their tulpa, either through natural ability or practice.
River-Fox March 6, 2016 March 6, 2016 For me I just try to switch up different points of view. But I only do that because it's my preference, so if you like to view time spent in wonderland in 3rd person only feel free to, it won't hurt anything. :)
