Ohrin July 24, 2012 July 24, 2012 Say I where to put a drumset in my wonderland, would my tulpa be able to practice on it without me focusing on it completely, or would I need to be "watching" her play the entire time? Also, after she's imposed (I'm not even close) would I be able to impose a set for her to practice on if I were to practice at the same time? glitchthe3rd July 24, 2012 July 24, 2012 Pretty sure someone made a topic on this already. But they seem able to pick up an instrument and play it without any problems, provided you know how the proper way to play said instrument would look/sound. So there's nothing stopping them from sitting down at a piano and cranking out Beethoven's Ninth or what have you. Charles July 24, 2012 July 24, 2012 Short answer, yes, they could practice without you "watching". How true that actually is is somewhat unknown, but it doesn't really matter. You could certainly impose a drum set, not sure how difficult it is. And I would recommend being careful with how many things you impose, limit it to your tulpa and the occasional item that won't be a permanent fixture. edit: what glitch said. practicing isn't technically necessary, though you or your tulpa may prefer to have such skills develop naturally. And regardless, you will need to have some concept of how the instrument works.
Ohrin July 24, 2012 Author July 24, 2012 Well, I play drums, so I'd like to think I know how they work pretty well. I think my real question is; If I were to have a set in my wonderland, or impose one for her to practice on, would she eventually become a better drummer than I am? Or would her skill be limited to mine? Tulpa Name: Solara Form: Human Female Creation Stage: Narrating and Basic Vizsualization
Charles July 24, 2012 July 24, 2012 She could surpass you, yes. As long as you can imagine it, it's generally possible.
Ohrin July 24, 2012 Author July 24, 2012 Interesting. Another thing I was wondering about was if Id be able to give her talents. For example, I'm a terrible artist, I cant draw for shit. Would I be able to give her the ability to draw? Tulpa Name: Solara Form: Human Female Creation Stage: Narrating and Basic Vizsualization
FigN01 July 25, 2012 July 25, 2012 You could certainly try. I'm a visual artist and initially gave my tulpa more incentive to try music even though I don't have much experience with instruments in general. I was hoping he'd get good at it, but playing guitar isn't something he prefers to do over drawing, painting, or creating objects in wonderland. He's said that it's easier for him to use my strengths in art to base his skills off of than it is to create a whole new skill set in music out of essentially nothing. I get the impression he might still play every now and then, but not often, especially because he wouldn't be able to share that music with a terribly large audience and I don't even have access to a good instrument of any kind for him to potentially possess for playing. Besides, I gave him a last-minute left-handed trait so that we might eventually be able to draw two things at once through possession, and we're both more excited about that. That being said, visualizing a tulpa itself could train you to become better at art, and the barrier of entry to it is pretty low besides- all you need is a pencil and paper at minimum. Go ahead and encourage yours to pursue whatever art s/he wants, then see what develops. It should be interesting.
Ohrin July 25, 2012 Author July 25, 2012 I'm hoping that eventually through possession her and I can become an amazing drumming team. Or hell, maybe she'll be a better bass guitarist than I will be. Although I'm learning bass more to acquaint myself with TAB and string instruments in general than to become the next Cliff Burton. Also, this is completely irrelevant, but I just finished about an hour long session of narrating and giving her basic character traits, and it has a much more rewarding feeling than I originally imagined it would.
