"How about getting dressed? That'll make you feel better." "It's 2am now, you should really go to bed." "You wanted to achieve X today, should we maybe get started on that now instead of scrolling through Facebook again?" And like a lot of people, I find it easier to get housework done if someone's there with me ("body doubling" as it's called) and he helps with that. And he doesn't mind me being scatter-brained either. 😅 But right now he's pointing out what time it is, so I will stop procrastinating going to bed and actually do so. Yeah, that's a good point too. I wonder if it could be turned into a legit psychiatric tool, kind of like how they have emotional support dogs, maybe emotional support tulpas? Tulpas for organisation and logistics in ADHD people? Imagine if the doctor perscribes you a 12 week course in making a tulpa where they tutor you on each step and give you some cookbook on what personality traits you should choose for your specific mental illness, and some mantras to repeat or whatever. It almost sounds industrial and a bit surreal to make tulpas like this though. Or making addicts make a tulpa that makes them "snap out" of cravings, or convicts having to make a tulpa to snap them out of thoughts when they consider stealing or killing something. I dunno, Im just thinking outloud here.
Glaurung26 August 9, 2021 August 9, 2021 Maybe. There would have to be a lot of oversight and caveats to watch the safety of the tulpa. I could see someone using the tulpa as a crutch or excuse as well. That being said I could see how certain aspects could help certain patients. It would take a specific kind of personality I think and be pretty case by case basis. I know that tulpas have helped me and others for emotional support and organization here. And we decided on our own. There's potential. Alternatively just buddhist principles that tulpas are loosely grounded in could help "the normies." It's a lot of internal practice, meditation and self-help stuff. I see what you mean though.
