Lolimancer September 10, 2012 September 10, 2012 Well, having... flexible... beliefs about reality could help i think. I sort of subscribe to philosophical idealism, for example, and also think that the idea of self is an illusion. Given that, separating parts of myself and summoning them inside my perceived reality isn't that much of a big deal, theoretically at least.
Twayblade September 10, 2012 Author September 10, 2012 Thank you all for your input. You're all being really helpful. What are your philosophical beliefs when it comes to reality? Well, the beliefs that I really believe are pretty much science. I do unfortunately tend to be the proof-is-belief type. The confusing part is that I sort-of-believe in infinite parallel universes, but I don't have any proof at all and I don't even know if it's logical in any way. I do not have the kind of belief that I do in, say, the atom, but I am... Open. That's why I said it felt like another daydream, I have partially convinced myself of tulpas in the same way I have in parallel universes. The great thing is tulpas are much more scientifically plausible than other universes, to me at least. I don't know if that made any sense. TL;DR - my beliefs are mostly in scientifically proven things. When I try to believe other things I can partway convince myself, but nothing more without proof. EDIT: I actually did totally convince myself of something, only for an hour or so: that the passing of time is an illusion and all time happens at once, each "point" in time being another "self" and each "self" defined only by their memories. ...which is pretty out there. Only time I've ever really been able to do that.
Sandwichman September 10, 2012 September 10, 2012 #matrixfag What is real. How do you define real? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain. This is the world that you know. #matrixfag (My wonderland is "The Construct") Name: Rei Human Female Stage:Vocal(Mindvoice) Visualization, Narration

Guest Anonymous September 10, 2012 September 10, 2012 all time happens at once, each "point" in time being another "self" and each "self" defined only by their memories. Chrono Existentialism. Everyone knows time is relative, and essentially a convenient illusion, but Chrono Existentialism takes it to the next level! When life's got you bored, all that is necessary for a sudden jolt of entertainment is to realize that everything that is, was, or will, has already is been happening! Great for kicks. Even greater if you love waves of deja vu much of the untime.
