anisakis July 1, 2023 July 1, 2023 ive been doing hours of searching and none of the guides clearly define active forcing beyond the initial steps of form and personality. everything past that point is just described as "focus solely on your tulpa". what are you supposed to be doing during this? narrating? is active forcing just focusing completely on narrating/attempts at conversation? how exactly do people do it, especially with newborns who can barely communicate? mine can manage short sentences sometimes but i have a feeling i may be unconsciously parroting said sentences as when i dont expect an answer one wont come. i have only managed passive forcing and a "middle of the road" sort of forcing where i play a video game with the specific purpose of commentating on it to her, describing what im doing as i play. i know active forcing isnt necessary per se but i want faster development because i feel like she really wants to be able to possess/switch and i want to let her do that but shes nowhere near the level of development required for either. tldr what exactly does active forcing entail, what does it look like when you do it, and how exactly should i go about finding a method that works for us
Luminesce July 1, 2023 July 1, 2023 (edited) All the development terms and all aren't really so important. At the end of the day, you develop your tulpa by interacting with them (ie speaking) while intending them to be a separate person listening/etc. You basically teach your brain to create the experience you want over time. I personally don't even like the terms active and passive forcing, mainly because "forcing" is a term mostly only used during developing/learning tulpamancy, and "passive" forcing isn't really good enough to make good progress there. Forcing itself is only a necessary term as an umbrella for "any activities you can do with your tulpa (which is also how to develop them)". Anyways, while it's of course great progress for your tulpa to be able to respond, the start really is just talking at them with the intent/belief that they're there to hear it, and eventually respond. Responses usually sound akin to your own thoughts at first, but as you designate what is you and what should be your tulpa to your brain, it'll start to shape the experience of them being independent from you so eventually sounding (and feeling) different from your own thinking. Doubting a lot stifles progress because it's basically telling your brain "No, that's not someone else in my head, it's just me" - the exact opposite thing your brain needs to be convinced of, you know? "Methods" are just whatever feels best or makes the most sense to you. Really just talking to them and practicing their vocality (clearness & separate feeling/sounding-ness) can be enough on its own, you don't have to get any more varied unless you want to or if just talking doesn't quite click for you. The next most basic thing is interacting in your wonderland or visualization (a "wonderland" is just a consistent imagined place usually dedicated to tulpa-related activity in your imagination, technically optional even if you intend to visualize with them a lot), though that + talking go hand in hand of course. If you need more methods, I guess ask for more and see what people say, but I don't personally feel more are necessary, so. (Our system does practice both "Switching" and "Imposition" which are great "forcing"/activity for my tulpas, though after they're well developed it's less about forcing/developing them and more just keeping them active, clearly vocal/separate feeling and all, which shouldn't take nearly as much or as frequent interaction as their actual creation did) Edited July 1, 2023 by Luminesce Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature. My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.
anisakis July 1, 2023 Author July 1, 2023 (edited) i think i kind of get it. any tips on how to focus on narrating when im not playing a game? due to my adhd i always have one song or another playing in my head, even when medicated, and i sometimes zone out and start focusing on the song by accident (cant get rid of the song, ive tried. im asking how to ignore it. its like a permanent screensaver) also i would in fact kind of appreciate more examples other than narration or wonderland exploration, because im not really sure what would "count" or work other than that Edited July 1, 2023 by anisakis wanted to say something else but didnt want to post twice back to back
