So recently I have been thinking about ordering one of these and I just had the thought about how it could tie into tulpae. I can think of some amazing tulpa-related applications for this, including making forcing MUCH easier and allowing more interaction with computers.

Someone NEEDS to try this.

Name: Twi (she wants a new name, we are thinking of one)

Form: Twilight Sparkle

On: Talking/communication

How might it make forcing easier?

Yeah, I can't see how this would help. A proper EEG (probably) wouldn't be particularly useful for studying tulpas, while this wouldn't give you much at all.

I might be wrong though, so tell me if you think I am.

One of the applications this could have would be to tell if the host is "tripping" or is actually focusing on his tulpa, like, if X brain part light up, then there's a signal to alert the host that he's thinking something non-tulpa related, helping him to focus only on his tulpa during sessions. Of course, the later a person is in tulpaforcing, the less useful this would be. I mean, if it's someone who already have a sentient tulpa, he can simply create a similar device in his wonderland, like a servitor.

But that's only one thing I thought, there is probably many more in OP's head.

I'm brazilian and my english is not really good, I'll do every mistake you imagine, but I'll try to avoid them.

I don't think that's how EEGs work. EEGs measure activity on the skull, not in specific parts of the brain. While they can be used to determine position, a proper EEG typically only works reliably on the cortex (I think). A commercial version such as what is mentioned in the OP would probably have even less success. An fMRI is positional, but somewhat out of reach.

EEGs definitely can't tell whether the host is thinking tulpa on non-tulpa related thoughts. For your application, see this guide.

This device is used to control computer aplications, something like "you think your cursor is moving to this spot and so it moves to this spot". If that's correct, then I don't think it would be pointless because it takes at least a certain amount of precision to get this to work, if it's correctly programmed, I think something alike to what I said is possible, it's a hypothesis. I doubt it would work, but even then I think that's one of the things that the OP meant by saying this device would be helpful. If he had something entirely different in mind, then it's my fault, but let's wait to see his answer.

Until they do answer then we're speculating.

You're right in saying that it does have some applications, and that it might be interesting to see results with tulpas involved. However, I fail to see how this would reliably aid understanding of tulpas, and definitely can't see forcing benefits.

That's not quite how it works, Motor. It's more of a "when I do this, react this way." You train it to recognize various states or phrases, and then combine that with keybinds. While the EPOC isn't that bad, (and I was considering getting one myself), it's true that an EEG isn't the best study tool. What this would be better for, is studying wave patterns during forcing, to see if they stick around with normal meditation, or personal research into binaural audio to see what helps you the most.

fMRI would be lovely, but considering a study costs 50k to 100k USD, and a machine from 300k to 1 million. That's probably out of our collective price range. The EPOC'd be a poking stick, at least.

If you will practice being fictional for a while, you will understand that fictional characters are sometimes more real than people with bodies and heartbeats.

I completely understand, but even with archaic tools like discussing and experimenting through trial-and-error we've been able to come this far with tulpas, maybe even if it's not the top of the line tool to use, it could be helpful.

We shouldn't say to the guy "don't do it, it's not gonna work" we should more or less say "try it, if it works, report it to us".

I guess you understood my reasoning here.

For sure, it would be good to try. If OP is still around then let it be said that I encourage this proposed endeavor.

Nevertheless, even calling what we do on Research actual experimenting is a stretch. Given the nature of the forum, any results collected here are anecdotal at best. Then we have the fact that any reader has no idea whether basic scientific protocol was in place.

What we have done so far is come up with a few methods that seem to work, and not much else. For a community that has "For Science!" as its motto, it's a bit disappointing, even if the science is just a pretense.
